Great thread and I'm looking forward to following along as you work hard to get your dad's Buick back on the road. It's very cool that he had such a rare and desirable GS. So you guys said there are no stupid questions...what's the difference between a regular bench seat and a notchback seat? I've been looking at a lot of the documents you guys have provided along with tons of research on various websites and either this car was purchased as a stock Stage 1 and then had some serious mods done to it, or it has a very interesting build sheet I can't wait to find out which (or both) it is! Thanks again for all your help guys.
The regular bench seat had very basic vinyl upholstery and no fold-down arm rest in the middle. The notch back interior had much nicer upholstery with the "waffle" inserts and a fold down arm rest in the middle. Notch back has the center fold down area, yours being the standard interior would have just had the standard bench
Gotcha. Wasn't sure because the front seats fold forward separately instead of as one unit. I wasn't born until the late 80s, so I need clarification on a lot of things lol
Lots of cool old race parts! That distributor is sure interesting looking. The intake is worth some bucks. But of those parts, one I wouldn't reuse. That flex fan. Had one that the blade flexed to many times and broke off. Luckily it flew down slicing a trans line and not up through the hood. And I would save any all parts not being used. Over the years I have thrown out some old crusty parts only later to find they were worth some $$ and worse, unattainable. Have fun!
I love your Post and what your doing. My first car was a Buick skylark custom convertible. Worked all summer to put a 455 in it. It ended up being to far gone and after 3 years of highschool the frame and body were shot. So my dad and I pick up a low mileage 1970 coupe and switched over the 455 and th400. He had the car as a weekend driver. After he passed I parked the car on the side of my mother in-laws house where it started rotting away. In only 6 years of Florida it went from no rust to no trunk but I still love it. I have thought of buying a rest free car but every time I think of pulling the parts off her it hurts. So until I have the disposable income she'll ware her rust as battle scars of a hard life. First car Current

Yes, not all the time but quite often. Also can be found inside the back springs of both front and rear seats sometimes. And also behind the dash too.
I didn't find any when I took the seats out, haven't dropped the fuel tank to see if there is a build sheet there, and haven't been behind the dash either. But I know to keep my eyes our for it!
If there's one behind the dash, it'll be in the A-Pillar and look similar to this. They just rolled them up and stuffed them in there.
Where would I find a wiring harness for under the hood? I suck at wiring and figured getting a new harness would be the easiest way to go...

Edelbrock valve covers, found this number stamped in it, but can't find a match thru Google search. needing to find the bolts to hold them in place. These are in good condition, so I want to keep using them
