Progress…. The brakes are killing me (pun intended) on this one. Installed an original Delco disc brake power booster and a new proportioning valve. May bleed the system tomorrow.
I decided to assemble the front end.
Headlight bezels are rechromed, NOS 1970 grille support...

George, should you ever decide on a pearl white interior for this car (hint :D hint), I'd love to talk to you about the seat belts. I could probably come up with a full set of black custom belts in exchange. Car looks fantastic.

I know for sure George is definitely considering a pearl white interior. Did your "Z" car come w/custom (i.e. matching) belts? I hadn't noticed that George's did.

Good! Sounded earlier in this thread like you were considering sticking w/the Dark Saddle.

Sadly, no, the Z car came with the standard belts. The custom belts are something I want to add though, simply because the black belts just look a little "OFF" with a Burnished Saddle interior, at least to me. Why Buick didn't color-key the standard belts is beyond me, hell, they did with the blue interior.

I actually think yours is going to be a great color combo & yes, they definitely should've color coordinated the belts on that interior. I never really thought about it at the time when I restored my old low option '70 350 4-sp but it had color coordinated green seat belts which I assume were an option and looked really good.

I think I have to trim down the spoiler supports to get it closer to the end caps… I don’t like the gap…

It is a pretty big gap - Hadn't noticed. Other than my old GSX, I've only had one car w/a spoiler. I'll have to look at old pics to see the gap. When I restored the car I was torn but put it back on because I was used to how the car looked w/it. In retrospect I should've left it off but...

Dano, the trunk lid isn’t closed, either… the bumper is too high

Registered and insured. All together except for rocker moldings (should I polish these or just buy reproductions?? They are dull and will need lots of time?), gauges, and tach.

Trans took ~ 5 quarts of fluid (!!!) to register on the dipstick

First drive last week- DS brake caliper was not working properly and not releasing, front DS spring not in the correct “slot” in the lower control arm, trans shifts great manually, but will not shift through the gears if in “drive”. Still need to instal tail pipes…oh, there’s an issue with the power brakes- either no vacuum going to the booster or a bad booster as it feels like manual brakes…..

Repaired the brakes and spring and took it on an hour long drive down Rte 1 then for a short drive on 95… seemed ok.

    pics to follow

I've resorted to just buying new rocker moldings. They're polished already, and they're not crazy expensive given the time needed to make the old ones look good. PLUS most of the originals I've worked with have a flash chrome plate on them. And that's not fun for me. Snag some red 1/4" pinstripe tape off amazon and let 'er rip.

That gap on the spoiler isn't terrible...I've seen them from damn near touching up to 1"

I don't use repro parts unless as a last resort and have accumulated several nice sets of rocker moldings for my projects.

I assume if @Smartin uses them that they fit reasonably well?

Compared to some other repro parts, yes. They bolt right up. Screw holes line up. and they're shiny and not full of dings!
