I think survivor is such an over used term. A survivor to me is a time capsule. A 100% original car that looks like it rolled off the showroom floor (or close to it). This car looks like a used car to me, not a survivor per se

I saw that too Chris - I assume it's generic.

I have talked to the owner about this car. He sent me the Block and trans stamps. Original parts there. I was told the story that the long term owner was a police officer , one night after work he caught the guy trying to break into the car. That is how the door lock area got tweaked. This is one of those cars that the condition does not match the odometer . The present owner thinks if enough people see it that they might get crazy and give him lots of money? Someone should tell him about the blue Washington State car and how much it sold for ! If a police officer owned it he would have the " Get out of jail free card !" That might explain the Holley and dual point distributor.

I was going to ask the same thing? Can you tell from pictures of the car is lacquer rather then base/clear?
To me it looks like an older restoration that at its time was done very nicely

If you zoom in on the bottoms of the quarters, it sure looks factory to me. Let's not forget the car is 46 years old.

where is all the TIRE guys surprised nobody mentioned asking the seller for date codes , paint looks original to me and exhaust is always first thing to rust off isn't it DA this car would be a good buy at 45k

Paint if flaking off of the back edge of the hood and top of the RF fender, looks original to me too.

Did you carefully look at the block #'s compared to the trans and dash plate?

Yes , VIN matches trans and engine , Scott . Engine digit is mistamped , 6 instead of a zero .

46 year old car. Not many around in original condition. I think survivor fits this car well. It has scratches, look to be surface rust, but car is intact from what it looks like. Missing distributor and carb and hacked up 1970s exhaust system. Will need to be tuned fuel system brakes, all fluids, etc. I may not have grown up in the era, but being around cars all my life and my stepfather owning probably tens of thousands of cars, we have owned or driven everything and anything from the muscle car era. Few and far between of these cars are in such great original condition. Most are missing their original drive trains, exhaust systems, and of course wear items like brakes and tires, etc. Carb and distributor sure will probably set you back anywhere from $2-3k maybe a little more. Tune the car, new tires, everything of that nature and enjoy it.

I dont consider this to be a "used car" look at all. A lot if not most GS of this era seem to be redone. Matter of fact, few are all original to the point they havent had anything done to them. Even my car at 54k miles, wearing original paint, sheet metal, interior, top, #s matching drive line, etc still has had a new exhaust system put on it and obviously brakes and tires. People expecting a mint "survivor" to come out of a time capsule in the wrapper i think are mistaken. The patina, the scratches, the surface rust, the wear, thats all the character about the car. Myself and my stepfather probably buy and sell more original cars then anyone on here, not bragging but its probably the truth. People see what i put online on Facebook and other sites as well. For all the years i have been attending since i was 7 at BG, more than ever, few original GS are around especially big block cars. Many for those of you who were lucky and grew up in the era or had them in the mid to late 70s, all i hear about are stories of GS being run into the ground and seeing them for cheap money as well just driving them because they were just cars and not collectible like they are today. Hindsight is 20/20.

A car that has been repainted even once is not a survivor. Paint work here and there and body work will happen to vehicles especially ones that are 46 years old. But a car that has had sheet metal replaced and frame off and everything is definitely not a survivor. The term is over used. A lot of cars are advertised as being original and then in the context you see the car has been repainted, new sheet metal, rebuilt drive line, new interior, etc.

These cars dont grow on trees. And as they get priced out for many people everything will follow the effect. We are seeing it with 4 sedans, station wagons, etc. Turbo Regals of the 1980s are following as 80s iron is red hot. Even beat up 1980s F body cars are following suit too. All the g body cars we found for years down south so many have bit the dust the 2500-3k car a few years back is now selling over 10k for just a 307 V8 Cutlass. And the turbo cars the parts are so hot for them, people are parting out cars because the parts prices have jumped up so high its unreal. Probably some that should have been saved. Natural market progression..

In 1976 I bought a 1968 442 convertible , complete car except carb and radiator for $ 35.00 . Yes, some have been parted out and not saved..

very impressive so how about the 70 stage 1 car here you must have a ballpark number in mind that would spark your interest

I would say absolutely not. The car has all the mid-model year changes (Gauges w/small font - flat lenses, relocated fan motor wire, sheet metal radiator top plate, black top overflow, black seat adjustment knobs, etc.) meaning it would have been built February-March (or after) 1970. Actual VIN would likely be 446370H240000 or higher.
