Nah... If it is a special car, like a GS, it think it takes away from it. If it's a more common Skylark or Special, maybe. Just how I look at it. :D

    The story of this car:

Alan- 69GS400's- ran into Dennis Lyon's at BPG or one of the events back in ~ 2006/2007. Dennis informed Alan that his friend was selling his 1969 GS 400 4 speed convertible (this one)....

Alan cannot purchase it, so he sends the lead my way and places me in touch with Dennis. I make an appointment to see this ragtop. As I pull into Dennis' parking lot, I see the Cameo Cream Stage 1 hardtop... Dennis is like "take your pick. The yellow one is my brother's and he's looking to sell it".

I end up buying the black convertible, which turned out to be a number's matching 69 4 speed...

A year or two later, I get in contact with Dennis' brother, who stated he sold it to Craig, who I had purchased it from....

The funny thing is Mark L bought BOTH the 69 4 speed convertible AND the yellow 69 Stage 1 from me...

Maybe CJP can chime in on current prices of 69 stage autos… I know of some that have sold in the 30’s… and recently a few in the mid 20’s.
Personally, I don’t like cameo… and I feel there isn’t a huge following for that color.
    For me:
    It needs a correct shifter.
If the floor wasn’t fixed, that’s an issue.
The bondo around the rear window is an issue.
The small amount of filler in other areas is an issue.
    Is $23,000 fair?
I think the owner is banking on the magazine coverage….

I know…. And it was all one color. I could just get in and drive it. That’s why I sold it, Mike… it ran, stopped, and drove… lol

“Mike Polito, who until very recently was the owner of the 1969 GS 400 Stage 1 Sport Coupe pictured here.“

So Mr Polito didn’t still own it , when they wrote that article in 2018? , weird .

Sounds like he spent some money on it ,

“the Buick did need some attention. A dent in the left front fender needed to be corrected; the front bumper, grille, induction grilles and headlamp bezels needed to be replated; the original-yet-broken antenna was replaced with an NOS unit; and the engine compartment, complete with its factory-chromed components mandated by the Stage 1 package, was cleaned. The automatic transmission was adjusted, while a few electrical gremlins were rectified as well“
Still , 49 sounds strong . Wife had a butternut nova , so she likes it :D.

Hey there new to the site, so not sure if I'm responding correctly to the above Posts. I just recently (Jan 2023) picked the Cameo Cream 69 GS up from Gateway, and have been trying to find as much info out about her history as possible. Rec'd a crap ton of paperwork with the purchase but still have questions. Build sheets etc. Dash say 15K miles but saw it had a rebuild somewhere around a 100K? Didn't pay 49K, but still paid a pretty penny.

Ken- I would say around 100,000 miles.
If you look through the paperwork, it spent some time in the Carolinas, and shuffled around classic car dealerships.
It then came to Massachusetts, and owned by a well known Buick guys brother… The original Stage 1 engine was rebuilt during his ownership. He also added an NOS grille and a rebuilt stage 1 carb… the engine builder used adjustable push rods… lol.
His brother sold it to another guy in Mass, and I purchased it off of him.
I did a deep clean on it and found bondo on the PS rear quarter- dent, around the lower rear window, and found the floor UNDER the DS rear seat to be significantly rusty with pinholes… it had a 1971-1972 shifter and a standard steering wheel. I think I did some other work and may have added a few things…can’t recall.
I sold it to a Buick guy in Iowa who did a complete interior, rebuilt the suspension, new exhaust, paint correction, restored the console, added the tach and stripes.
He sold it to another guy..who offered it to me for $16,500… and I wanted it for $16,000… so he sold it to the guy that had it printed in Hemings Muscle Machines… who then consigned/ sold it to who you bought it from….

I bought it in June, 2009, and the odometer was at 111,230 miles

George. Copy all, thank you. Seems like in its travels its got a heck of a lot more expensive. This Car has cost me couple nights on the couch, but worth it. Once the Sticker Shock / Buyers Remorse wore off I started going through all the Paperwork. If i recall it goes back to about 2009. Mass? My Family is originally from Groton. I have one barely readable build sheet. Any idea where i might be able to find the others, or if there were any found in its previous life? I looked in most of the suspected locations but nothing. Going through some of the info as well as some of these threads, seems as though it was resurrected from the past and brought back. Correct me if I'm wrong but i don't see too many 69 stage 1's around. 70's + but not 69's

Live and learn, I thought they were just dirty, tried to clean them up with a little tire cleaner. Didn't work. So their supposed to be Brown huh?

Ken, honestly, I regret selling this one. It was a very solid car that needed very little to be a stunning car. At one point, I actually had a 68GS simulated wood rally wheel on it… lol. The only reason I sold it was because of the color. I could not stand the color.
When I get home shortly I will look for the old pictures.

I never found or had any build sheets

Question on the Cam if you don't mind When you say Stock. Do you recall if that was a Stock 400 or a Stock 400 Stage 1 Cam?
