1968 Wildcat rear axle blew up, what will fit ?

    my friends 68 Wildcat has a "square" lid on the rear axle and 3,07 gears, open diff, i think it is a 9 3/8"

    to much one leg burnouts and it blew up...

    this is in Norway an we have to improvise, what other axles will fit (complete swap) that has big GM pattern ?

    yes i have read that tread :)
    but what other cars can i source an axle that will fit from ? will a caprice/impala axle fit ? what year ?

    Look at the last page of that thread. I think they talk about that. Monzaz and Brian Trick are the rear end experts here. You are WAY BETTER off PM'ing them directly for an answer.

    I'd pull the cover and inspect before you go full replacement. The spider gears get no oil when doing a one leg burn out and they are not designed to have one wheel stationary while the other is spinning wildly, at least not for long periods of time.. the pin and gears probably grenaded. The rest is probably ok and thats a pretty easy fix
