What makes those different from say a 69 or 70 painted rallye wheel type ? Could we also get a picture of the back side for reference on the clips.
    Not in line.

    Hi guys- here are some additional pictures of the 1968 only Skylark 14" trim rings. 20210209_091253[1].jpg 20210209_091308[1].jpg 20210209_091321[1].jpg 20210209_091350[1].jpg 20210209_091253[1].jpg 20210209_091308[1].jpg 20210209_091321[1].jpg 20210209_091350[1].jpg

Here's a picture of my '68 GS 400 with the same style trim rings on the 1968 spoke wheel. The outer flange on these trim rings is wider-- I think that is what makes them '68 only.
Also, the '68 spoke wheel needed the trim rings as they were not part of the wheels as in later years. IMG_3209[1].jpg

I'm interested if the tntlark and Nailhead pass. These are what are installed on my '68 GS when new.

I didnt know the 68s were different than the later ones. Learn something new all the time. I have a set of these with the rims off a 68 GS California.

Here are the optional "V2 Chrome Plated Wheels (With Drum Brakes only)" that were available on the '68 GS without the trim rings in place. The center is still chrome (satin chrome actually) but the rim shell is painted black. For '69 and '70 there was a "Super Sport" road wheel that used a polished trim ring but the entire wheel assembly was painted. The center was not chrome like a '68, it was just painted silver. I'm guessing it was a cost savings measure to skip the chroming of the center?

Does anyone know if these trim rings will fit on a stock 14x6 steel wheel?

Here is the same style wheel on my '68 GS. The deep trim ring makes the rim look deeper.
I had gotten points deducted at the BCA Nationals for incorrect rims but once I sent them proof (my original build sheet and a part number reference) they reinstated the points.
The stock rim size is 14x6 but I do not know if they would fit a steel wheel.

These trim rings are different than the "derby cap" style wheel trim rings that were also available in 67/68.

Are the these still available for sale (the 5 in the original post)? I may be interested in no one else is.
