Since I have joined the Team at "Streetworks Hot Rods And Exotics" as the General Manager over 4-Years Ago (still own and operate my own shop/business of 36 years), I have seen and coordinated (along with Matt the owner of Streetworks) some of what we believe to be the Finest Restoration and High Performance Automobiles that money can buy. Including but not limited to the (1967 ISO Grifo GL350) placing 2nd in this past summers 2021 Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance, and the (1969 De Tomaso Mangusta) "Best Of Show" winner at the 2017 Concorso Italiano in Montery CA, plus many other local events. Along with all the Exotic cars we restore and service, we also fair an equal amount of Hot Rods, "One Offs", Race Cars, and what we all love "Muscle Cars".
All that being said, ...... We at Streetworks Hot Rods and Exotics recently took on a clients 1967 GS 4oo project to address multiple mechanical issues. As the process moved along we found sheet metal debacle after sheet metal debacle. We ended up cutting out the trunk floor and the forward adjacent floor. We found both quarter panels along with the inner and outer wheel wells had been cobbled in the past. The lack of new quarter panels and outer wheel wells prompted us to get creative and do what we do best, ...... "Fabricate" them ourselves. We have a full fabrication shop in house and what I believe to be the top metal shaping and fabricator in the Midwest (Dave featured in the first photo). We ended up using New Chevelle outer wheel wells and modifying them to fit. The inner wheel wells are readily available. The quarter panels we "Hand Fabricated" are from the bodyline down. We still have plenty of tweaking and fitting of the sheet metal before moving it into our inhouse body shop. I'll be attaching photos as the project progresses. There is a huge amount of modifications as well as updates to the car such as but not limited to:

Super Clean Frame which I have our technicians adding a boxing kit along with a x-brace kit to make the frame brutally strong, "Much Stronger" than the clients original GS400 frame which is factory boxed and held all the Wisconsin salt/snow inside degrading the walls thinner, only to make it weaker than a decent open channel frame.

We are adding a Gear Vendors Overdrive to the existing TH400 transmission.

Custom Built Moser Chevy 12-Bolt rear axle assembly with Ford Big End Bearings as well as "All The Good Stuff inside", and 391:1 gears

    4-Wheel Wilwood Disc Brakes

Global West Tubular front upper/lower A-Arms

Global West rear Lower trailing arms and QA1 adjustable upper trailing arms.

Spohn Performance 1-5/16" Solid Rear Sway Bar

New SS Fuel tank w/ 1/2" SS main "tank to engine" fuel line

RobbMc 1/2" fuel pick up/sending unit to complement the 1/2" main line

    Quick Ratio Steering Gear

    DeWitts Premium Aluminum Radiator

So as this project moves along I'll continue to post it's progress and photos.

    etc. etc. etc.

Our client's engine/transmission combination had been previously built by an outside source. It was already in the car and performed well when we checked the vehicle into our facility, .... so we are leaving that system "As Is".
I will periodically update as we progress throughout this project.

Streetworks Hot Rods/Exotics has purchased a 32,000 sq. ft. building and we are anxious to move in soon. We have the updates to the facility just about completed. New spray booth, along with our existing spray booth, 6-car lifts with an alignment rack, central air conditioning, all new LED lighting throughout, inside and outside cosmetic renovations. This should be one "State of The Art" restoration/performance facility.

    Thanks Guys!
I'm adding photos to show the quarter panels as the vehicle came to us. Also including a few photos of the inner/outer wheel wells in "mock-up" and drop downs being fitted.
