hello , I’m looking for the trim pieces that go on top on the the doors and quarter windows area , I’m not sure what to call this trim.... I have two sets of this trim both pieces that I have for the drivers door are dented up pretty good and will probably be hard to fix. Thanks for any help.

Just bought a set for my 73 from Chicago Muscle Cars. They are called sweeps. Literally just received them and haven't installed them yet but look good and supposed to be specific for my 73GS.

Fyi , wide belt trim used on the top of the doors and quarter, are Alu on hardtops and SS on conv. The person above who bought the Ames ones, were they hardtop or conv? Have you installed them and how did they fit? Thanks.

What I have is anodized aluminum, it would be great if there is reproduction stuff for them . If not I will have to see if I can get them repaired. I do like the look of them on the car and this car came with the trim when built. I looked at some picture of gto’s after joracer12 mentioned what they had done. The profile of the Buick and Pontiac do look very similar along the tops of the doors.

Matt, that trim is called belt line reveal molding and could probably be repaired and polished. How bad is your trim and could you post some pics of them? Right now i'm helping a good friend restore a '67 GTO and he ordered the Steele brand window sweeps and I can say that they are much more like the originals than the PUI sweeps I used on my car. We'll have to wait and see how well they fit until we get his moldings back from being chromed, hopefully in a couple of weeks. I'll post back when that happens.

The trim used on the 66/67 GTO and LeMans is exactly the same as our cars.

I have a few sets of those trim pieces. Aluminium, polished and in perfect condition. The A body cars all use the same trim, Chevell, Olds, Buick and Pontiac. Correct about the converts using a stainless version. PM your email or text # and will send you some pictures.

Olds door moldings are the same, quarters are different and the Chevelle's never had them.

I had Restoration Specialties, make a set of belt weather strips (fuzzies) for may 66 hard top with belt moldings. Sent them the originals. Doors fit well, quarters needed a little more bend in the front area, I was able to install OK. Correct round beading, chrome inner and black outer, like the originals.

Hey guys i know this is an old thread but im kinda in the same boat. From what í read is theres some confusion between the anodized aluminum molding and the actual window felts. Do the window felts not clip onto the moldings then get screwed to the doors?? Also I have 3 67's a GS340 a skylark and a special deluxe. All 3 have the anodized moldings. My issue is do i strip anodizing and polish. Send them to be chromed? Does anyone re-anodize them? Or go on the impossible hunt for a stainless set from a convertible.. Personally id prefer stainless as i feel the "tone" color would match best with all the other stainless on the car. Perhaps its my OCD and theyve already got a mix of chrome plating stainless and aluminum. If anyone knows of a convertible set let me know

The problem is the convertible SS will only fit the doors not the quarter window. QW are different between Hardtop and conv.

I have a stainless convertible set or two. As you may know though the side rear window pieces are different on convertibles.

On my 66 hardtop I installed the Alu ones, had the dents removed stripped and polished. It has been 2 years and they still look OK, may need to take some Ali polish to them some day. I used the fuzzies from Restorations Spec, sent them a set for patterns.

Awesome thanks guys. Seeing as the rear quarter ones will be different ill strip and polish mine. I have a set thats pretty much dent free but the anodizing is deep scratched. Thanks for the tip on restoration spec i will check them out i definitely dont want generic fuzzies that i have to urethane on.
