So I am starting to map out the wiring for this car and I see in the chassis manual that it appears that the starter cable has two starter wires ( purple and yellow ) run inside some sort of sleeve that looks like it is part of the starter cable itself. The two purple and yellow wires have a plug on the end which attaches to the main wire harness. Is anyone familiar with this starter wiring ? Is this cable and the wires with the plug all one part?

I have a starter cable with no wires , and the new harness I ordered seems to have the plug to accept the wires ( purple and yellow ) that comes from the starter.

    Thanks again guys !

    Familiar? hell yeah!
Here's a pic of an original. I did find some repo insulating stuff, Ames Pontiac has it.
Be very careful when you install the cables to the starter. The connections are very close to the exhaust manifold and can short out if it's too close. Buick put a little tang on the terminal so it fits on the starter properly (last pic).

It's on page 176 of their GTO catalog.

You could ask Loren if he knows where to get the pig tail or connectors. He mas made wiring harnesses for some members.
He goes by la 65 gs on this board, or post over on www.65gs.com
    I don't have any extras.

As Walt stated, I do make wiring harnesses. Specifically for the '65Gran Sports and Skylarks. I have also done harnesses for '66s
Presently I am wintering in Florida and my shop is at our home in Nebraska . I will be back to our home in Nebraska around the first of May. If I can be of assistance, feel free to contact me.
Just a note, If you needed the 4 gauge cable , I would require an original to salvage the ends from.

    Hi,

I got my engine compartment harness from Loren and was excellent, looks like the original, he does a great work.

One other donor for the ends is mid-60's Oldsmobiles as my 65 Cutlass has the same battery cable harness not sure if length is the same

    Regards,
    Jim

I replaced this cable on my 65 Riviera last Saturday. Got mine from lectric limited, and it was a perfect fit
