Question: Does the section of the steering column which houses the aperture for the turn signal stalk go back together only one way, or can it be variable?

I had my broken turn signal switch replaced (and newly recast steering wheel installed, '65 Sportwagon), and noticed as I drove home from my mechanic that the turn signal stalk (and the aperture it arises from) seemed lower than before the repair. Everything operates well.

See pic - the stalk is in the neutral position. What do you all think?

The turn signal lever should be at 9:00. That collar slips on to tabs on the end of the tube and turns to lock into place. It's not locked in.

Thanks, confirms my suspicions. Also now finding that the shift lever is misbehaving. Back to the drawing board.

    Hope it's safe to drive....
