HERE IT IS! one of about 7 cars I will be posting for this local friend who is in a serious financial crunch...I will try to post one car every 10 days or so...here is the first:
1965 Rivera Gran Sport: THE GOOD STUFF: The Florida Dept of Motor Vehicles DOCUMENTED this car with 88,418 original miles on 03/06/97....Today , 05/03/09 12 years later...its sports just 89,311 miles...it is a numbers matching 425, factory 2x4 setup...I believe these to be rebuilt factory original correct carbs ( RR: 3925A and FT: 3645SB). The engine runs like a scalded dawg...shifts fine, has a ton of torque that pushes the ground behind you thru a ST400 Automatic trans and 3:08 posi...complete but not working a/c, power windows, tilt, original radio, completely reupholstered interior 8-9 years ago: f&r seats, headliner, carpet, package tray and trunk liner. The car was originally a gorgeous SAHARA MIST paint code "S" but was repainted black by a restoration house..its a decent paint job, not top-of-the-line, some overspray on trim in areas, but for the most part, a nice shiny coat of deep black color. Some chips here'n there. A blister on the corner of the hood. I can see there is some "filler" on the rear quarters, but nicely finished. Floors appear solid under heavy factory undercoating. All chrome is original unrestored and shows signs of typical 44 year old age. Newer low mileage radial white wall tires. THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF: The exhaust system has a small leak at the muffler and at the exhaust manifold where it meets the exhaust pipe...Headlite clamshells need attention. Tail & brake lights dont work. Engine compartment needs a thorough detailing..IN FACT, because this car is soo complete, factory original and numbers matching...it really deserves a total professional restoration in my opinion. OH YES, it can be driven while being tinkered with but the brakes MUST me tended to first..it has issues with the booster (vacuum leak) and the master needs to be replaced... yeaa, I found out this Rivi has real anamosic defiance to the brake pedal being applied when stopping from 85MPH to zero.....believe me! The dash and doors cry out for a complete new "woodgrain decal kit" to be really nice! The steering wheel shows signs of old age cracks.
SUMMARY: Overall, this is a very cool Riviera GS cruis'n car with tons of head-snapping potential..(while driving it around and taking pix at the park yesterday, I had an audience of 7-8 people all commenting on the beauty of the lines and condition of this car)...O'sure some things need attention like a real-good professional tune-up, the radiator needs rodding out, oil change, tranny fluid change, definately BRAKES. some lighting woes, but, again, once the brakes are tended to, you can drive the car as is, while making some repairs! Its NOT a 22.5K car as sold on ebay last week. ..and in my opinion, its NOT a 10K car. ... but it is a gorgeous, nice looking, clean appearing 1965 Buick Riviera GS with 2x4's providing a powerful punch-a-hole-thru-the-wind attitude for the very reasonable $7400 asking price. There you have it....Gottney questions? Wanna make an offer? or you just want to provide comments, please post a reply here. ThanX for looking.

might recheck that gear ratio. I was under the impression that the GS got 3.42 posi rear as standard.

Well you could be right, all I know is when I was polishing the wheels, I rolled the rear end and counted the driveshaft spins and got just over 3+ turns to one wheel spin...? 3:42 would've been almost 3 and a half, right? Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Yes David, you are correct. It is priced more-than-reasonable, and even tho it will require some immediate work, it IS DEFINATELY a good-looking 1965 Riviera GS! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
