How do I replace the antenna cable on my 1965 Gran Sport?
    1. Bought a new antenna kit from OPGI.
    2. Took nut off the base where antenna plugs in (at fender). Cable fell into the fender or who knows where.....
    3. Thought the cable would just plug into the back of the AM radio, but it appeasr the cable just enters the radio. Can't see where it plugs in anywhere......
So I am confused at both ends.
    Help.
    Take cowl vent off?
Take radio out and see if plug is inside radio somewhere?
Thanks for any help in advance.

You need to stay with the OEM antenna base that fits the fender. I had a GS400 with an after market antenna and there is no way it would stay tight and in place. Hate to tell you this but you may need to take off the inner fender if you want to get to the one that dropped in but then again there are strong magnets on the end of extendable handles (like an aerial) which you can buy at an auto parts retail store. You could probably reach the cable end with that and bring it out. My antenna cable (s) plug into the radio on my 67's.

    Good luck,

    Chuck,

Thanks for the information. I have seen OEM antenna's on Ebay. I will try to find one of those. And of course, I will find a way to get that cable out. The magnet is a good idea. If not, start tearing it apart until I get it. Wish me luck.

Just for clarification I was talking about a 1967 GS400 so now that I see you were talking about a 1965 it may be different but maybe not. Good luck.

    Replace with original.

    You need the following parts:

antenna nut - reproduction available - Buick Farm

teardrop chrome trim - Buick Farm

antenna - reproduction available Fusick Olds

antenna base - need to find a used one

I tried to go to the Buick Farm website and my computer will not let me, says there is Malware on the Buick Farm website. Anybody else have that problem? If they do then we need to call Buick Farm and tell them can't get to their site due unsafe conditions.

    Thanks guys-

Got the antenna based fished out of the fender and back in place. I have the tear drop chrome trim. Just have to get an OEM antenna now. I will try Fusick Olds.

Thanks again. This community has a wealth of information and generous with their knowledge.
