    Even when it's been heat tempered in a fire? Wouldn't that be even more brittle than before?

    Well it was hot enough to melt plastic & even aluminum, BUT look at the AFB aluminum carb. it didn't melt too badly so I don't think the intake got heat enough to cause heat temper damage. IF it were inexpensive enough would make it worthwhile in my eyes.
