Looking to replace the stock 14" mags with a 15x7" Repos on all 4.

    I have a 66 GS Skylark

The Steel/chrome 15x7s 4.25"bs wheel vintiques everyone sells are backordered till August 2021 or later.

Has anyone tried the aluminum mags in 15x7"??

    15x7 4.25" backspace 5x4.75" lug pattern.

As for Tires I was thinking Cooper cobras in 235 /60 R15 or Redlines from Crooker 225/70r15, ON all 4.

Any issue with either choice of wheel or Tire on a 66 Skylark?

245R60 tires look the best on 7" rims. Buy Cooper tires because BFG still having bleed thru on the ehite letters.

yes. I them front & rear. Besides, u get better handling with the 60 series tires than the 70 series - more rubber on the road.

you had this on a 66 or 72? I thought the 72s have more space?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I don't think that's wide enough to be a space issue, but that's just a guess.

I wonder if those wheels (the aluminum ones) accept the original hubs?

No specs on Hub size..for the Scott Drake/Legendary wheel but they say they fit Chevelle..

Now the American Racing brand has a similar 15x7 wheel. PN- VN501

They have BackSpacing of 4.0" instead of 4.25" and
Center Bore Diameter (in): 2.860 in.

I assume I need at least a 2.75" hub diameter hole in the wheel?

Just a caution on those Drake wheels. After pulled out of box, before removing the outer rim saving edges, they are ALSO hub concentric, mount them on a wheel balancer & spin them. If they look good then remove the edge savers & spin them again. MANY of them are so far out that once you install tires on them they are NOT returnable. May just save some the headaches of what I went through. I don't care what is said about care/quality of build in videos is just not true.

The american racing ones have a warranty ...

    Warranty
American Racing wheels are warranted to be free from structural failure under normal and intended use for as long as the original purchaser owns the product. Wheels are warranted from other defects in material and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. Steel wheels have a 90-day warranty from the date of purchase on paint and plating (excluding surface rust, which can be prevented by proper care). Chrome plated aluminum wheels have a 2-year warranty against chrome peeling on the face of the wheel only. Polished and billet aluminum wheels oxidize and require regular maintenance. Their finish is not covered by warranty.

Advertised in the vidoes they show quality control & made in the USA. I'm sure the actual product may have been from China & MAYBE put together in the USA. That I do not know. In the video it shows the steps they go through to make sure that they are correct. Do a search to see for ones self. They were so out of balance that even on the new balancer that shows where the rim/tire assembly is heavy & dis-mounting & re-positioning the tire to the rim I had NO CHOICE but to put weights on the outside of the rim which I orignally did not want to do.
Since tires were mounted to the rims they say once the tires are mounted they CANNOT be returned.

Pretty sure the Drake and American racing cast aluminum wheels are made in China, Probably why they can sell them from $140 or 150 each. The only ones that claims made in USA are the Steel Wheel Vintiques.

I'll just wait for the 15x7 wheel vintiques to come back in stock...

Too bad they don’t make the Cragar 510’s anymore.

Plus I think they ended production, no longer on the Cragar site. I wanted to order some 15x6’s. I do have a set of 14’s on one 66 GS and like them.

Just my opinion but I’ve seen these Magnum 500 wheels/Chevelle wheel on A body Buicks and its like”swing and a miss”

Between the non chromed, aluminum surface and the tapered spoke it just looks so wrong to me.

The circle racing product got it right if you like the big diameter look. Either get those or wait for the 15s. My $0.02
