Awesome numbers, congrats! Wow...the RPM's at peak...it seems weird to see BBB RPM numbers like that.

I was working with Best Machine on a hemi build while this one was gettin under way last year and saw it several times. It's incredibly impressive to see how it turned out. Chuck and Pete are as sharp or sharper than any "big name" engine shop anywhere, they just aren't big self-promoters. I was working at Roush at the time and would not consider them superior in any way. By they way, they do of course have a Buick deck plate and fixturing setups if anyone is thinking of using them. Not cheap but guaranteed perfect work.

Congratulations on achieving your goal and hitting the 1000 milestone!

Wow, 1000 HP! It's amazing how much less oil pressure you need with the TA Block. How big are the crank journals?

    Thanks Gary

Did not CC the runners, The exhaust flow was in the 280s Exh valve was 1.76 I have the wrong size in the build post.

Also all flow testing was done on a 4.375 Bore as that was what was going to be used at that time so the Int should be a little higher than the numbers reported due to the un-shrouding with the 4.5 bore

Thanks for the kind words Jim.

This thing started out as a build that would be torn down every few runs due to the block issues. Then was delayed waiting on a Bulldog Block that never materialized, then moved on to the TA block and again waited for the design and build of that. I figured it was foolish to build a time bomb if there was hope of a good block in the future, so to me the wait was justified. I knew it been many years, but was shocked when I actually figured out when it all really started.

    Wayne,

I'm contemplating bore size now. Yours is the first 4.500 bore that has made big power.

Who talked you into the bigger bore?

Chuck (from Best) and I talked about it and he wanted to go with the smaller Bore. Then as time progressed he had a customer that requested the larger bore and it made more power and sealed. So we changed direction and went with the 4.5 Bore.

I would love to see the drive trane behind all that power. Did you put a Dana 60,70 behind that motor?

Will have a light weight TH400 from Rossler and a 9 in. with 40 spline gun drilled axles and a sheet metal housing.

Light weight 400, how do they do that? With that much power you ever thing about the 2 speed powerglide? You will need one major torque converter to handle that power. I take it this is not a daily driver

The planets in the 400 are heafty, same with the drums. The pump is a nice piece of cast too, Are they using stamped drums, alumin pistons, aluminum valve body, and some how take some of the gerth out of the planets. ?

Yes, Alum drum, center support section, pump, and valve body. This is the stuff they do for Super Stock cars, and can live at this HP level.

No, this is not a street car. This is a max effort Heads Up All motor, true 10.5 tire car. Car will not be driven to the lanes or back to the pits plan is for it to be towed.

A great toy to have. All in the persute of adrenalin. I hate to admit this but driving your race car will be better than sex. Actually I think anything with around 400 HP can top sex...

    Wayne, incredible work, hard won.

I won't pollute the topic with questions, and frankly I don't have any. I'm just happy to see this sort of progress, and that you are finally getting to realize your huge efforts. With all the hopeful things that were supposed to happen (but didn't happen), I don't think I'd have had the desire to push through like you and only a few others have done and are doing.

"Passion" is a good word in this case, and I applaud yours.
