So this thread might be busy enough already but anyways.

For 1970, Buick had an electronic system that disabled vacuum advance except when in 3rd gear, reverse or when the motor was running very hot. The motive stated in the Chassis Manual is emissions control, without them elaborating much further on that. However, experience and measurements for engines in general seem to show that an ignition curve affected by engine vacuum can improve fuel mileage. Increased fuel mileage should be positive for emissions in general. So out of curiosity I wonder how Buick landed in the decision to mostly disable vacuum advance. Some speculations online indicates that retarded ignition might have reduced NOx. Maybe the authorities had some criterion for NOx that maybe did not really catch the overall emissions aspects at the time? Just out of curiosity...

Transmission Controlled Spark (TCS). Back in the 70”s, the emission control systems were crude by today’s standards. They were gas mileage and performance killers. Even the concourse resto guys disable it. Do you need to know more?:)

I have mine installed with dummy vacuum lines going nowhere but can't tell with the stock air cleaner on. :D

I'm having trouble to find the Crane kit with the correct springs for a points distributor.
Other options for the correct springs? My vacuum canister is ok, so I could limit that.

I tried to order from that bangmarks website, it does look a little suspect, it charged my bank but the order never went through. I will have to call now to see whats up.

Does anyone have a recommendation for the a kit thats similar ? There are a lot of options out there and can’t find a solid answer for a points style distributor with a pertronix conversion.

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

2040-parts.com has scraped ebay and other parts listings that are often years old and "lists" parts.

I would just as soon go on a blind date with Biker Fox, than try to purchase from that site.

bangmarts.com is also suspect. It follows a trend of "fake" ecommerce sites that are created from one or more legit sites in presentation of merchandise or simply a bunch of fake ecommerce sites that may look the same, or may look different, but all have the same "contact" info.

    Do a search on:
    DavidGarrett00204@gmail.com (+61)471157696 1/6 Closeburn Ave, Prahran, VIC 3181

You will see a list of such sites as well as "redirect links" that use other (legit) domains to redirect.

srobiner, contact your bank or pay method you used and reverse/cancel the payment.

(I don't want to hijack Larry's thread, so please post back or PM me when this is cleared up so Larry can clean this mess up. Or I can delete this post. Thanks. :) )

Thanks for the quick reply’s everyone. Finished talking to bank and got the money back easily. I did look up the contact name and interestingly the account that charged me on my bank was named “Zhongshan”…

I am going to order the Accel advance and the Moroso springs kit. I will update once I got it installed for my 350.

My experience with the adjustable vacuum advance (VA) was that a stock replacement one, limited to 9-11 degrees of advance, worked better. I wish I would have tried that route first as a stock replacement one is much less expensive. I would work with the advance curve kit first (like the ones Larry linked), and limit a stock VA. If you need the adjustability, then try the adjustable VA.

I didn't order from those websites either, looked suspicious to me. Glad I didn't.
Limiting the stock VA is what I will do. I've seen the Moroso springs, but I understand most springs are still to heavy? Hopefully these will be fine.
