Merry Christmas gang, going to make a move to steel wheels and dog dish and have a few questions (read all the posts and tried searches but no luck). I have a 72 GS. I have dog dishes and want to swap to steel wheels for a while.
    - want to buy new steel wheels, can someone suggest a place, and what size assume I am going to get 15x7 I assume but not sure of pattern or back space?
    - going with red line tires if somebody has a source or size suggestion would be very helpful.

Next having going to have my Rally’s redone…a good source would be great.

My BFG,s are 14 years old,,, low miles, always inside in temp control but are they too old?
    Thank You

    Mike

In my opinion your tires are dangerously old.

Tires age much different in different climates. I have seen very old tractor tires with no dry rot in the northern climate.

:) For the redlines I would go with Diamond Back classic 245 60x 15
For the 14 year tires personally I would not use them just my opinion

    Bolt pattern? Small GM, 5 X 4 3/4. 15 X 7"? Stick with stock back spacing, 4 3/8"

My tire guy…who I trust… says he thinks 10 to 11 years…assuming you are doing some highway driving in the summer where they’ll get hot. He believes that reformulations, to save oil, have increased tread wear but shortened tire life, in terms of years.

Yessir, if you wanted 15x7's. Here are the exact wheels with some 235's wrapped around them. Wonder where that car is now..

    Mike,

I have a set of 15×7 steelies (painted black) with 245/60/15 Cooper Cobras, mounted with the black walls facing out.

They have 3 seasons and about 3K miles on them and have literally never been exposed to inclimate weather or burnouts, due to my annoying wheelhop issue.

If you can find a way to get them out to Kansas, I'll give you a good deal but I'm not shipping.

Maybe a board member from Massachusetts is heading your way at some point? I'm in no rush if you wanna try and arrange something.

    Larry I don’t see the 4 3/8 backspace…4,25 and 4.5? Thanks

    Hey Mike been awhile!
it’s just an 1/8 in go with 4. 5, and what color are you planning? I hated mine when they were Flame Orange but Argent looked really nice IMO. Here are pictures and also you can use beauty rings which I didn’t like either.

Brent is that you? Love both those colors was planning on flame orange no trim ring, but the argent looks great as well. What tire size did you use? You once tried to trade me those wheels for my NOS 8 track player

Close enough. I would go with 4.5" BS if I had the choice.
