Hey all, not sure if this is the right section for this question, but, here goes.
Installed a 455 and th400 in my 71 lark with floor shift and center console. Took a lot of tweeking to be able to get park and low 1. Now my backup lights come on in nuetral instead of reverse. Adjustment I'm sure, just not sure how or where.
    Thanks.

I thought that u establish neutral linkage first at least on a th350 which s/b same method for 400. I had done that several times on the th350 that was in my GS 350 car.

Steve, do you have the 1971 Buick Chassis manual? All the adjustments are there. I can send you the relative sections in pdf form if you don't. Just send me an e mail to the address in my signature.

BTW, you do realize you posted in the Manual Transmission Forum?

Yes , tried the neutral set first but could get to low 1,
Larry, yes I have the manual. Never thought of that. But if I get lost I will email you.
And I wasnt sure exactly where this question should go, It didnt seem to fit any of the section titles.

Shift Linkage chapter, starts on page 73-2.

Neutral safety adjustment is on page 120-19

I would have just put this thread in The Juice Box. It's an automatic transmission question.
