Questions I have . What wheels and tires did it have ? Was the 3.90 axle in it factory installed? Thanks for any help
I'd get a Wayne Roberts report on it. I don’t think you can determine the rear from those. If the rear code & date code are correct it'd be a pretty good indication that it was orig. @Duane could answer &/or offers a POBF decoding service. The 1st doc I beleive is the Fisher Body "cheat sheet" (IIRC that's what Duane calls it).
Actually you have both the POBF (production order body final) and the Body Shop Inspection sheet. The POBF will prove the car and will often let you know what wheels were on the car originally. What you need to do is make sure the sheets have the body and vin numbers that match your car. I decode both of those sheets. Duane
No. That info would have been on the "Production Order Chassis Paint" sheet, but they are extremely rare. I have only seen maybe 2 or 3 of those for the 70 cars. The only other place where the rear info might have been listed would have been on the car order form or on the window sticker. The microfilm might show that. Duane
I have an example of a Wayne Roberts report on a '70 Stage 1 w/3.90's. The microfiche shows the special order rear but not the actual ratio although I suspect there could easily be some inconsistencies there when it comes to SCO's and that in some cases maybe it does call out the ratio. I seem to remember seeing one that did.
Inspection on the diff revealed no code stamping while it's in the car . It is a 4 pinion posi with GM gears . I'll have to give it a better Inspection once removed . Thanks for the info guys
