Doc (Darren) had one listed here a little while ago. I believe it was gulfstream blue, but can’t remember if it was an a/c car.

It was an A/C car IIRC & quite the beauty - Don't remember if was numbers matching (@docgsx ?). Tall order to find a matching #'s Stage 1 4-sp. car to begin with let alone w/AC (very few made) and in the condition the OP wants in that price range but could be one out there. The old "trailer hitch" car fit the bill (low mi/rust-free/orig. paint survivor) but sold several years ago for high $70's/low $80's and at the time I thought it was a good deal. Mine (matching #'s engine/trans but no A/C) is a 20-25 footer and in today's market it would probably bring close to, if not w/in the OP's price range. Jason's (rust-free, no A/C, NOM, decent but not great paint) recently sold (last year) right in the middle of that price range.

I bought the car Darren had listed. It is a gorgeous car top to bottom, and is a numbers-matching real-deal Stage 1 4-speed with factory air. My research showed they built 193 of them.

I figured it would be a needle in a haystack thing but I'm in no hurry . If one thing had to go it would be the a/c . I really want a 4 speed . I've owned a 70 stage 1 , 70 455 convertible and a 71 350 convertible ..ALL were automatic on the column

I can understand that! Back in '85 I was looking for a GS 455 - I was 18 y/o & had rolled (totalled) my '72 GS (350, buckets, console, A/C) on the way back from the Nationals (had cut HS to go). Called about a '70 GS 350 in the paper & guy said it was a bench seat so definitely not what I was looking for - Still to this day not excited about col. shift GSs even though my '71 Convertible is but not much choice there. Afair it's the only col. shift GS I've ever owned & I've had a bunch of 'em.

With nothing to do later that day figured I'd go look @ the car in the paper. Called & the kid's father answered. He wasn't there but the father said to come on over and kinda off-hand as we're hanging up says "oh, & it's still got the original Hurst shifter." I can remember it like it was yesterday. "We'll be right over" I said, lol. Neither the ad nor the kid when I talked to him mentioned it was a 4-sp.!

Before attending the Nationals I'd never seen Buick A-Body w/o A/C, let alone w/o PS or a w/a 4-sp. & always liking the oddball kinda stuff I was already enamored w/the idea of a low option Buick. We get there & sure enough - It's a bench seat 4-sp, no A/C, manual steering, manual brakes, no vinyl top, etc. & green w/green interior to boot (green cars seem to find me). I had to have it! Most fun GS I've ever owned.

Been fortunate enough to have/had 2 ea. Stage 1/buckets/PDB & 350/bench/manual brakes - All were/are manual steering/No AC 4-sp.'70's & all a different variation of Sherwood Green w/4 different interior colors.

Good luck w/your search! Personally, I wouldn't limit it to a Stage 1, buckets, or even a '70 if a 4-sp. is the driving force.

I have a friend in upstate New York with a Sherwood green stage 1 4 speed, and he has mentioned maybe selling. I believe it’s an a/c car, but maybe not a numbers car. I could ask him if you want. I know the car is not a project.

Tim, please have your friend post this car if it is for sale. The OP is asking for a price range that would bring multiple offers. Things have changed! Will it stay this way, who knows?

Not my car. Just saw the ad earlier and knew there were a few wanted threads over in this section of the forum. Congrats on your Leukemia. Anytime someone whips cancer's ass that's worth celebrating.
