My book indicates the transmission lines for my grand sport start from the transmission on the passenger side, then to rear of front crossmember, Across To driver side, then forward and up into the radiator. I have my original? lines which go straight forward from the transmission on the passenger side in front of the crossmember then left under the rad,and up into the radiator fittings. Can anyone a certain which pattern should be used? Was there a choice?

Looks like a bear to install without taking the engine out as well.?

My 65 auto with the 300 stayed all on the passenger side. cant confirm if the GS was the same.

Thanks very much for your input, I’ve done several 65‘s and lines were always on the passenger side, now I have this gift, the grand sport! Very limited info on this car, skinny little supplement manual doesn’t quite cut it.

The GS is different, the lines cross over to the drivers side at the front edge of the oil pan, there are 2(?) clips that bolt to the front oil pan bolts that hold the lines. The 225/300 stay on the passenger side.

^^ I think you are confusing 65-66 GS Skylark fuel line and trans lines. The fuel line crosses from the left to the fuel pump on the right using the eyelets attached to two of the front pan bolts. The trans lines cross from right to left behind the engine cradle crossmember and have a fastener attached to a bolt hole in frame pad for the motor mount. Below is a picture of how the lines terminate at the radiator on the left and the fastener for the lines on the left frame pad. The 65-66 GS Skylark trans lines are reproduced by In Line Tube or Classic Tube (I cant remember witch they came from) and are correct. The non-GS 65-66 Skylark trans lines do not cross to the left.

Hey Cheryl thanks for clearing all that up, I appreciate your input. Looks like a bear to install trans lines after the engine is already there but I’ll get there somehow. Thank you!

I think you're right, I'll confirm tomorrow when I get to my shop.

Robin, Pictures of our 65 Gran Sport assembly show the motor and trans in the car without the trans lines. This was over 10 years ago. I know the engine was never lifted up or out agin after installation. I don’t remember any drama over the line installation. In fact, I did the install and don’t remember it at all. They must have snaked through the frame and motor area from above or the underside with some simple turning and twisting.

I've never had any problems routing the tranny lines on my 70 GS U shift em.
