Can confirm times two! In the fall, I took a 175 mile round trip in my '63 T-Bird with a 390, and my route was just about perfect for mileage. We got 12.75 mpg. I've verified AFR with my wideband and the timing is good...that's just about all it's got in it.
Love the lines on those 67-72 GM pickups, I'm just not a fan of the engines. I've played with so many SBC that I can't look at another one again. It's too bad that they never put Nailheads in these trucks... As for the Fords, one thing that Ford could never get right was carburetion or the whole induction system. The valves on the 390 are about the same size as on an Nailhead, and the runners aren't the best design. Couple that with those lousy 2100 carbs and it's a dog. They wake up with Holleys, but you really have to know how to set them up. I was never good with a Holley, the one I had on my 390 defeated me all the time, it more or less had to be retuned every time the sun went down. Obviously I was missing something, because other people get them to work just fine.

Man oh man, that 77 extended cab is tempting! If only it was closer, then the math might work. I also wish we used real dollars here instead of Trudeau Pesos, it puts this up to over 10K Canadian to get it here.
Young guy bought it. Actually took out a personal loan at 17% to get it. He saw the C/L listing, came by Sunday afternoon and agreed to buy it. Said he'd be back Mon or Tues to pay. I've heard that before so wasn't holding my breath but sure enough yesterday he showed up and paid. grabbed the title and keys and said he'd be back on Sat with a trailer. He lives couple hours south of us.
The crazy thing is that once the guy has it payed off it will be one of the only vehicles worth owning once it’s paid off. I know I don’t want a $90,000 truck 5 years in, they are junk.

I have owned this truck for 20 years in hopes California would let it be smog exempt. I have come to the realization that California will never change. Last year I thought about converting it to an LS setup, but I don’t have the money or knowledge to make it Ca legal. The interior needs to be re-done. The truck has a zz4 350, turbo 350 with a 2800 stall converter, lowered with drop spindles. Truck runs and drives fine, but has been sitting in my garage since 08. Last year I had a body guy straighten and primer the body. The truck is straight and rust free except one spot on the passenger floor where the carpet got wet. The floor board metal feels fine just a little surface rust. I photographed the floor board so you can see for yourself. If your looking to buy a nice starter truck and don’t have to smog this truck is perfect. I can’t prove it, but the motor has less then 10,000 miles on it. If the ad is up it’s available, I will not respond to is it available. Email only and I will get back to you ASAP. I don’t care what you have, NO TRADES.
