1987 Buick Regal Turbo 1 of 1 ever built, 25175 original miles, White on Tan leather, 2 owner car,me being the 2nd owner, photos just taken jan 11,2021,this car was specially built for a retiring 72 year old GM executive, I have a letter stating the car scared him from day one and he never drove it past 45 mph, it was sent when brand new to vehicle concepts which is where GM sends all their 1 off show cars to be built it comes with the original GM special order receipt, and comes with the following options: Power leather bucket seats, center consul, opra lights, carpeted trunk, Turbo 3.8L, chrome moldings, concert sound, power windows, power door locks, power trunk release, S/S lower rocker moldings, deluxe carpet and lighted visors, power recliner passenger seat, cruise control. This car has every option available, we have the window sticker and every service record since new. Original paint, no accidents, when this car left the factory it went to vehicle concepts to have it modified further, it had a power moon roof installed, GNX dash and gauges installed, GNX motor upgrade to GNX specs, Dual power mirrors installed, GNX transmission upgrade, power key in the trunk lock that unlock the doors. We have the receipts to document. When I got the car 15 years ago, I upgraded the turbo, upgraded Houston down pipe, installed 3 exhaust, installed bigger fuel pump, and 55LB injectors, installed adjustable fuel regulator, installed axcel coils, hotter spark plugs and wires, adjustable waste gate, it will run at 25lbs boost, and produce 465 HP. To rear wheels, I added 18 & 20 coy custom built wheels, it has never been on the track, but I would guess 10.8 to 11 second quarter miles. I have the original wheels and tires, and all parts taken off car. See pictures of undercarriage, it's perfect. Runs at 75 mph at 2200 rpm and 180 degrees under no boost, it gets 20 miles per gallon, If you want rare, this is it! $43,000 includes all parts.documents and history,I MAY TAKE A PART TRADE BUT BE REAL ON YOUR PRICE AND DISCRIPTION,*********** PLEASE NO TEXTS,I WILL BLOCK YOU IF YOU TEXT,TO MANY SCAMS AND I HAVE HEARD THEM ALL,IF YOU CAN TEXT YOU CAN CALL,Call 602-820-7395.

Interesting. I like that it was a special for a GM executive. (In the sense it a lot of options you might not normally see) But it sounds like it didn't get the full GNX treatment. GNXs had a special rear suspension set up to help them hook up. A bit pricey I think.

Ooooh, I just caught it has column shift instead of console shift. (Yet still has a console) That's weird.

If everything is true, I would say it is a great deal.

    docgsx It's not a GTX

I’m a little suspicious myself, if this: “GNX dash and gauges installed, GNX motor upgrade to GNX specs”, why would you have to change the turbo, exhaust, injectors, Etc again?

I can believe the story, but you will never get top dollar on a 1 of 1 car with that much aftermarket stuff .. even if it’s just bolt ons. Did he save the original parts? Original wheels?

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it SW gauges and not VDO's? I would think Vehicle Concepts, circa 1986/1987, would have a real GNX gauge cluster.. and not have to fabricate a VDO cluster....

Car has been on and off the market for a very long time. This is the cheapest I’ve seen it. The turbo Buick community is scared of the cluster change and the aftermarket sunroof. Both no nos if you want a pedigree car.

You can’t argue that those seats are worth $43,000 worth of comfort. Love my GN, but nothing beats an 80s Buick plush interior.. especially in leather

I got a kick out of The letter that states the original owner never went above 45 mph :)

Suppose he got that statement notarized? :)

Just a minor correction on the name of the car. It's not a Regal T. Buick abandoned the T Type reference for 1987 and the only the black WE4 cars were called "Turbo T" by Buick. The above car can be properly referred to as a Regal Limited with the turbo package. (LC2)

As for the asking price on the OP's car, how many more like it can you find? It's worth what a motivated buyer will pay for it and if it runs and looks good $43K isn't that far off the mark IMO.

I believe this car is a Regal Limited, with the Turbo option, with the "T" option. That`s why there is a "T" badge on the front fenders and the steering wheel center cap.

That’s what I said, it’s a Regal Limited with the turbo option. However, the T emblems have nothing to do with what the car is called. The “T” stands for “touring” package option. All turbo Regals and Grand Nationals had the T option automatically. But any garden variety Regal could be ordered with the T package which consisted of performance suspension, the turbine wheels and performance tires, the rally steering wheel and the “T” badges on the front fenders.

It is a 1987 Buick Regal Turbo T Limited.

Rich, if you will find and post any documentation from when these cars were marketed by Buick that refers to a turbocharged Regal Limited as a "Turbo T", I'll accept your contention. But, my research back then found that the only 1987 turbocharged Regals that were ever referred to as a Turbo T was the WE4 "Turbo T" package released for the 1547 all black Regals that were referred to as "lightweight Grand Nationals". The term Turbo T has been adopted by many enthusiasts but remains incorrect for 1987.:)

Thanks for all that literature. I haven't seen some of it for many years. It conforms that 1n 1987 Buick didn't ever use the term Regal T. The T package was merely an option on any Regal (turbocharged or not) and was, as I mentioned, a "touring" package consisting of suspension, wheels, tires, leather wrapped steering wheel and a "T" emblem on the fenders and steering wheel center cap.

I hate to beleaguer the point but, it's a common misquote when referring to turbocharged Regals in 1987.

So where does the t-type fit into this? My dad worked a used car lot in the early 90’s and I remember him bringing one home every day until it sold. It was a burgundy colour and it hauled ass. I distinctly recall the t type badging with hair drier logo.

t type was from 83-86 on the regal. In 87, t type was dropped on the regal and the “T” package was created. When you got any t type up to 86, the v6 turbo was the only way they came. In 87, the “T” was a suspension package on any regal. One of my regals is an 87 regal T with a 307 olds.

T-Type Regal stopped after ‘86; there are no ‘87s. The ‘86 had T-Type on the grill and front fenders and a T on the horn button. Wheel centers were black with a silver trishield. It had 3.8 SFI TURBO on the hood bulge and decklid. I don’t remember a hair drier (boosty 6) on it anywhere other than the coil pack sticker.
