The discs are 3/16". You'll loose 3/16" of thread engagement, on the studs, so "IF" they're marginal without the adapters I wouldn't do it without swapping out slightly longer studs. The rule of thumb is 1-1/2 times (or more) the thread diameter of engagement. (1/2" stud should have 3/4" length of engagement "minimum").
I'm looking for 14x6 steel wheels to use with dog dishes.... i have seen the reference for back spacing like 3 7/16 etc. On a 72 skylark/GS convertible with rear stock drums and Right Stuff disc brake conversion, what back space would be a) stock and b) acceptable other backspacing options that will work with my set up? Thank you!
The '77 - 90ish B-body (RWD) LeSabres and LeSabre Estate Wagons used the 5 x 4.75in wheel/hubs like our A-body Skylarks & GSs ... Buick put the 5 x 5in wheels/hubs on the Electras and Electra Estate Wagons.
Standard steel wheel colors for no option 1970 Skylark & GSs: Glacier White and Bamboo Creme both got BLACK painted standard steel wheels. Buick had concerns about road dirt and grime easily showing on light colored painted wheels. Neither Olds, Pontiac or Chevrolet seemed to share the overall concern.
Regarding GM wheel stamping and compatibility with spacing/back spacing requirements for disc brakes: the code "JJ" means that the wheels internal hub area dimensions are spaced for disc brake compatibility. If no "JJ", be careful and double check. There will be more stamping for different aspects ... like prod date, supplier, size, plant, etc., but "JJ" was specifically for disc brake compatibility.
I needed wheels for a ‘roller’ 75 Firebird a couple of years ago and the easiest to get to were 14”x6” steelies from my ‘68 GS (drum car). The would not clear the calipers on the ‘bird. Patrick
Yes sir, All GM intermediate, some Ford and older Chevy trucks. The cap needs to measure 10.188" ID.........
Thanks sir they work great on the jegs/summit draglite reps. I just used 2-7/8 480 knurl wheel studs. And acorn lugs. Then the adapter on top + 7/16 nuts to hold them in place. This are 15x10 with 28x10.5 on a stepchild I relocated the lower shock mount 2 in inside.
