As of yesterday, I will be working for myself. Originally, I was going to shoot for the beginning of 2021, but we agreed to make the transition at the end of this month....

For those of you reading this that have no idea what I'm talking about, I started Antique Automotive Service in 2014. It start out as small jobs like stainless trim polishing and detail work. Since then, I have been involved in several full cosmetic restorations and am nearing completion on a full nut-and-bolt rotisserie job. Many more are on the list. I'll be a busy guy!

Despite the backlog of work, I am always looking for smaller jobs to use to fill in the gaps for when I am waiting on cure time or parts deliveries.

Thankfully, I am hitting the ground running, and have been prepping this the for 5 years.

The irrigation company is in good hands. I still have ties to them, but I won't be doing anything on the job.

I'm curious to see how fast things move now that I can do this every day. For the last several years, I have only been able to work as time permits. I usually would try to get in an hour or 2 after work, and then as much as possible on the weekends...but I have to have a life too. So it was like 10-20 hours per week of car stuff. That will likely triple now.

Adam--one day you will look back and ask yourself, "Why did I not make the jump sooner?" The cream always rises to the top.

    Adam,

Congratulations! One of the first threads I remember reading on this board was your engine compartment restoration of your old Centurion. I’ve followed every restoration you’ve done on here since and think you made a great decision. Best of luck!

Congrats! No doubt you'll do quite well - You're very efficient. Sooner or later the question will become how much, if any, bigger that you want to get (i.e. hiring people). As a one man show, you own a job. There's a famous business book on this subject, the title of which escapes me but I have it here. If you're interested I'll find the title.

The E Myth is one of them. I'm probably due to read that one again.
