I just got back at 2:00 am this morning after a 10 hour road trip to see them and I'm passing on both cars, they are to rough for me!
The cars have seen better days that's for sure. After inspecting them I think they should be destined for someone: who[1] has access to rust-free sheet-metal, and [2] who has a lot of time on their hands, and [3] good welding and body-working skills are a must, also [4] having a lot of disposable cash on hand would be helpful. But, that's just my opinion.
Reason 1 and 4 was why I traded off my 73 GS 350 bench seat 4 speed..Sticking with the 70-71 cars now..Way cheaper to do, and availability of parts is much better..
I can't even find 1/4 panels, parts for these cars are like gold. I feel like I won something each time I'm able to find a part. Last part was a new clock from the Buick Farm.
I had 2 NOS 1/4's for 73 I sold about 10 years ago & I got $3800 delivered. What would those be worth today?
i dont believe youd ever get that today..1000 to 1200 a side..maybe, 1500 each if SOMEONE REALLY WANTED THEM BADLY
Mark, a friend of mine located a set of 1/4's that were new and bought them for $3000. They were in Houston. He bought a cut off one from a 73 Century non GS for $1100 as well. The 1/4 window trim goes for $300-450 a set.. Finding parts for these are extremely difficult.. I found 3 NOS parts for my 73 GS in all the years I owned it, and they were kinda non essential pieces..
the back seat of the 4 speed car had a bunch of NOS parts..but its all been wet, etc..i dunno..i cant even imagine tring to get NOS for them, it must be incredibly hard
Larry did you make the seller an offer or is he stuck on a price that was not feasible for you/condition of cars?
If they end up getting parted out I'd be interested in various bits and bobs from the body for my '75
There was a pair of Centurys in one of the El Paso U Pull Its six/seven year ago. Both '75 coupes. VG solid desert bodies. Did post both up here. Simply too far from the customers to risk buying anything, and possibly sitting on the parts for years, if not decades. Did sell a pair of bumpers to one customer that was it.
I remember a customer who was restoring his fathers car. Tho we did the engine, he bought the quarters from out west. He showed me the picture. pallet full of parts. After buying so much of the car the yard advised him might as well take the rest of it too - and he did.
1973-1977 Buick Century"s are a fastback design, while Regals are more of a formal roof design. { Think 73-77 Monte Carlos} Larry.
It was a small window (3 to 6 months) a one shot opportunity. (meaning on the part availability) Cars were crushed within six months of being placed. The logistics of travel to the yard, removal, storage, crating and then the actual shipping kill it for 95% of potential customers. For big items, that is meaning doors, trunk lids, Quarters and rear clips up to and including whole Tubs. Recently picked up both doors, trunk lid, and all side glass and regulators from a super clean '66 Olds Cutlass. Simply too nice to resist. But may sit on it for years until just the right customer comes along.
