Ok I’ve looked at this issue with the SP not going into high stall. I located the switch that has 2 terminals one is wired to 12 volts to the on & Off dimmer switch in the car the other terminal goes up to the top of the tranny I haven’t seen where it goes yet. I just crawled under the car to check thing’s quickly. When power is supplied to either terminal I can here the clicks mentioned, and yes I can hear the difference in one being softer than the other. Is power supposed to go through 1 terminal to the other? I am not understanding how it works.....

Ok I see now the black and white wire is going to a switch on the gas pedal. So looks like I have an issue with the switch itself or e/w something in the trans or converter? Everything appears to work but it just isn’t going into high stall.

If it's a SP each prong should react to 12v independent of one another.is there a kick down switch at the accellerator?

Yea found a kickdown switch On the pedal everything seems to be in order something must be up with the convertor or trans. A buddy of mine has a switch we’re change out in the trans see if that’s it.

Does the other prong activate the solenoid in the trans you can hear it when the high beam switch is depressed

One terminal is the down shift and the other is the SP. It sounds like somebody wired the high beam switch to the SP. There are so switches inside the trans. Only the solenoids that you can hear working. The switch at the throttle is for the DS. To check things out I'd just temporaily wire up two switches. One to each terminal. The DS should be evident. No need to go to WOT. Just cruise along in 3rd at 20 or so MPH and then activate the switch. If you just stay cruising along at the same throttle opening it will almost feel as if the car went into neutral but if you give it lots of throttle it will bring the rpm up and then you will realize it is in second gear. That will confirm the DS is working mechanically. If you are tricky you can do the same thing by reaching up under the dash and pulling the swithc on the throttle arm while cruising as I described.

The SP when activated, as previously noted, responds with an rpm rise if you are power braking strongly at a stand still. You usually can see the rpm difference when cruising as it is activated and then turned off. Not a big rpm change but definitely noticable.

I have seen the solenoids where they click when electrified, but then not work because the plunger cannot move because metal particles have jammed up the mechanism because they were attracted to the magnetism. You can see it if you take the solenoids out and remove the cover. Easy to clean at that point. I would think the SP one would be the best chance of that.

Yes I had the high beam switch on and touched that hot wire to both terminals and I could here a click each time.

A friend I worked with for many years has rebuilt trannys all his life. He has another solenoid I can replace. I will take it apart soon let you all know what I find.

I believe that switch pitch solenoid is on tbe back of the pump.....you.may have to pull the trans and then pull the pump to get to it
