Hello, New member long time car nut. Question weather or not to get Sloan document, I have an original car invoice from the dealership sold to original owner. The invoice itemized all optional equipment 16 total, year make model, VIN ,motor # color , key # , Also have protect-o-plate , 1970 vehicle warranty/ protection plan with dealer # imprinted on it and protect-o-plate imprinted on it as well. partial build sheet under tank that only shows VIN #, key #s , fan shroud 3 , Any input would be appreciated. Thank you Sean
I say get the Sloan. I'm sure your car is authentic if all that stuff matches. But, it could be a special car and only they would know. It's like 75.00, the more docs you have the better if you ever want to sell it. provenance is everything. Be aware the crew there is a bit shaky right now. I have two Sloans for my car, one from like 18 years ago, and I wanted a new one because it didn't have the cover letter, etc. I have the tank sheet and the old one, and I had to get stuff corrected on the new one, like it said my car was a Stage 1 and it's not! With a good Sloan, you can make sure everything is copacetic.
Thank you for your response, makes sense to have as much docs as possible. The reason I asked is that the original invoice is very detailed. On another note ,car is an early build second week of sept 69 , invoiced 02/24/70 do you know if that is that Sloan or Wayne Roberts ? Thank you Sean
Compare your VIN to what is available at Sloan: https://sloanlongway.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Avaliable-VINs.pdf
Looks like Sloan will have it , As you can see from invoice (left side) 2nd owner Conner was the original owners neighbor, he had a protector-0-plate put in his name in 72 , near as I can tell he kept the car until 1990. He had one repaint done in 88 on the invoice it states painted my car original color NOT he had it painted emerald green. Original color which you could clearly see from trunk and under hood seamist green.
Nice! Does it still have the Rim Blow Steering wheel? Unless I'm forgetting something, the only information the Sloan Report is going to provide that you don't have really is the amount that Buick invoiced the dealer for the car.
Yes still has the rim blow steering wheel, original engine, trans , I switched out front drum to disc ( need to stop ) , saved all the original parts for drum breaks. Only major part thats not original is rear end , I installed 12 bolt Posi.
