OK, here's the latest fiberglass hood. I honestly wish I could keep the same cost as I have had over the last couple of years when I was in AZ. But having to have materials shipped to me instead of running down the street has affected the the cost a significant amount. I pay for shipping on 5 gallons of marine grade resin and then a haz-mat charge on top of that. Resin alone for this latest hood costs almost $200! Now you add in gel-coat, PVA, fiberglass mat, plus a lot of misc. supplies. Because of this I have to raise the price from $550 to $700 plus shipping for the bolt on hood. The lift off hood will be $450. I went back to my old post and found my list of prospective buyers. I fully understand if you want to pull your name off of this list, I'll put all the names out here on the next . The plus side is now that I'm retired from that other job, I am working in the shop at least 5 days a week which will speed up production rate and allow
    me to build other parts

Hood looks very nice, vfn is 600 for a bolt on hood with no cowl, so I feel your prices are inline and I'm sure the quality is just as good if not better

Increased price seems reasonable to me, so keep me on the list. I'm glad you are finally able to start making the hoods again.

Thanks to all, yeah I looked at 3 different companies making just a fiberglass copy of a stock GS hood and the average was $621. So I guess I'm not too far above that. I will continue to look for suitable resin at a better price. I may look and see if there is any discounts for purchasing multiple 5 gallon containers. The shipping is another story completely out of my control, but it's ironic when I was shipping from Phoenix back east (most of the time) the cost was around $225-$250. Now this first hood which may go to Krayzie949 if he wants it, would still be $218, and he's only 3 hours away from me!

I'm still interested in buying one, but I don't see name in the list. I messaged you to be added to the list on Nov 12, 2018 and was told I was 16th in line. Let me know if I'm still on there!!

I've made 14 hoods so far and all but two have been the bolt on version which weighs ~34 pounds. It's been quite some time since I made a lift off hood but I would guess it'd be around 20-25 pounds.

It is limited availability in that I build the hoods myself. It was taking quite some time when I was in AZ because I was still working a full time job and building hoods on the weekend in my 2 car garage. I have since retired, moved to WV and have a larger shop. Based on that my goal is going to be to try and get a hood out every 2 weeks. This allows some time to also work on new products (e.g. 71 rear bumper)

Craig, That's still a VERY FAIR price for a hood of that quality/fit/finish!! I really loved mine and always received compliments on it.

All those names on that list.... that's a lot of hoods!! Makes me "itch" just thinking about it!!! LOL

Thanks Steve! That hood is now a one of a kind, it's the only one left from the first mold since I made changes to the area behind the scoop based on input received after it was mounted on your car! :) And yeah there will be some itching involved!!!!

Well, I don't know what clearance I need for sure yet, won't know until I get the motor installed. However, I plan to go with a pin-on hood, and was originally going to go with Glasstek to make me a '66 Skylark hood, with maybe a '69 Camaro styled cowl induction scoop on it. I really like what you did with your hood though, so maybe something along that same higher rise cowl style, but probably without any scoops in it? Any thoughts or ideas on your part?
