Oil pan clearance?

    DCB0A886-9D7D-4592-BEAF-749AE1D19279.jpeg What oil pan clearance? If you ever modify your crossmember,and still run the stock style steering,you need to address the center link,or put a step in the front of the oil pan. I whipped these out this week. Gives you 2” more clearance.

    Nice.....… I always thought of doing this same thing on my 70, but I never did. Good job. What did you use for the link....1026, 4140, etc.?

    I started with a Moog centerlink. I bent 1” bar stock for the new piece. Heat it good,weld. Then cut the original center out,grind,finish,paint.

    How is clearance between center link and front lip of cross member.
    I put a notch in my oil pan.
    Chevelle Milodon pan.

    i found where the center link bends up on ends and inner tie rod rubbed pan on turns.

    My crossmember has the little tongue removed.
    I mocked all this up with a custom pan with a RH kickout,and the only thing I hit was the kickout. I didn’t hit anything on the left side. I fabbed a small clearance notch in the kickout.
    The pan I have now comes straight down,then 45’s to the bottom. I don’t hit anything.

    That is a nice trick center link you made.

    My car still has the tongue and I am using the milodon 31187. Right side kick out and big square pan overall. Using shorter stock height motor mounts to keep good drive angles. I know it’s a Chevy but trying to help keep guys looking out as they build.
    My Buick is stock panned.
