Any Buick Clubs in South Florida?

Sounds good John, looking forward to it. By any chance do you guys know any classic car/restoration/engine building/machine shops that are looking for mechanics? Im in ASE program right now, decided I want to restore cars for a living and I've been trying to get an apprenticeship in one of these shops and I thought I'd ask if you guys knew of any in our area. Cant wait to for the meetup!

 

Hopefully I can resolve the oil leak I discovered this weekend before then. otherwise it might be just me and no ride.

 

Hey guys, I'm just checking in. I Emailed 4 or 5 guys down south somewhere in South Florida. I believe 2 of them live pretty close to you Hector. Hopefully they'll give me a shout back. I'm guessing we'll make it Saturday the 14th, from 12 till whenever??? (Was that the weekend you had in mind, Hector? Sunday is the 1st so I guess that would technically make it the 3rd weekend? Let me know if that doesn't work.) That's the date my son put on the Turbo forum. I'll supply burgers and dogs and y'all can bring whatever you want to drink. I'll have coolers with ice if needed. Hector, I hope your oil leak is something simple. Chris... I have a buddy who is a retired mechanic. I'll ask him if he has any friends that need some help. Getting a foot in the door is hard. I remember being young.
Oh yeah, my address is 217 Henthorne Dr. Palm Springs, Fl 33461. It's a corner lot with lots of shade trees. Coming from the north, or south, get off I-95 at exit 64. Not counting the highway intersections head west 6 traffic lights. Congress Ave is the 6th traffic light. Continue west 5 streets. Turn right, or north onto Henthorne Dr. I believe I'm the 6th house on the left. You'll see Buicks out front. >

 

I know where that is, Its right down the street from my school. I'll bring some chips and sodas. and thank you John for the help, its very hard to get your foot in the door, but ill keep trying!

 

I wish I could make it but that is right in the heart of busy season and Saturdays are work days. Have fun guys.

All, I'm one of the guys John mentioned who is in Hector's area. I have a 69 GS400 vert here in Plantation. It's in mid-restoration but should be in good enough shape to make the ride from Plantation to Lake Worth. I'll check my calendar and follow-up with John. Would be nice to meet up with other Buick owners.

Alan, you are the man!!! Hector, if your car doesn't make it your presence will more than represent!!! Milton, I haven't called you yet, but I will today. Milton has a very nice, unrestored, 70 GS. He lives just 1.5 miles away. He might have started taking his engine out though because he's getting a big, bad Buick 480 cu. in. engine for it. He does have a really cool 66 Dodge pro street car he could bring over if the Buick is being disassembled. GSFred, maybe you should tell your wife you'll be a little late getting home to N.Y. >
My crazy son is on the turbo Buick forum. I guess they're on Facebook also. He showed me 72 likes for the "get together" last night. Most are from out of state unfortunately. One guy in North Carolina said he wants to come. He said, "Ive never been offered a free BBQ and Buick show!" lol

I am, for like the 10th year in a row! But this year I don't have to call in sick. We're going April 13th. Friday the 13th! And the next day will be an awesome Buick "get together!!!"

IM in Coral Springs with a newly aquired GS 455 convertible! we should all go to coffee and cars one weekend.

Update on the Buick Get Together. Thursday my son and I went by Dave's shop in my youngest son's 83, 85, 87 Turbo Regal. (Long story) Dave and his brother have some very nice GNs. They work on a lot of nice GNs. They said there would be some nice GNs showing up at our Get Together. They also have a friend who has a 70 GS455, 4 speed, with EFI. They said they'd invite him. Friday night my son buys a torque converter from a guy in Stuart. Turns out the guy has a 70's GSX!!! He just blew a head gasket, but he's going to try and get it fixed and down here for the party. Saturday I called my Friend, Milton. He's got a 70 GS455 that is a VERY NICE unrestored car! It's got a bad knock, but he's close by. He said, "I'll nurse it over." He's buying a new motor from Tri Star motors that is going to be kick butt!!! So we are actually up to about 10 V8s. AWESOME!!! More are WELCOME. Come on back2buick. Just had to say that.
