It may have been me encouraging people to make a deposit just so TA would take us seriously.

    It’s all good, it happening!!

the heads will have to be outstanding for this to happen. at the end of the day 90% of the folks who are serious about performance and would be apt to buy aluminum heads will still swap to a BBB. these heads will have to bring the 350 to a power level that is close to a warmed up 455. which is a tall order...

Page 1 of the TA catalog outlines a layaway plan for more expensive items like cylinder heads. There doesn’t appear to be a minimum, but the items should be paid off within 12 months.

yeah you guys love to talk block strength. the truth is most 455s are fine into the 10s. there are very few 350s out there that are going that fast and consistently run on the track. spinning your wheels out on the street means nothing, parts break at the track. until you have a decent sized test pool running at that level you don't have the data to back up your claims.

The fast 455's are in the 10's yes. I am sure stage 6 aluminum heads for the 455 are taking up our time. I ran 11.81 with a 125 shot of nitrous so that is not that far away from 10.99. so what is going to happen with the 350 Alum heads and those good rods TA has now coupled with a good roller cam and light pistons and plus our SP3.

NOW lets give it that 125 shot of nitrous and see what happens, I bet that is a second off that 11.81, we now have 455 power.

and don't tell me about cheating with nitrous power you have a 455 remember?

I forget who I talked to at TA, its been awhile, but I was told they would call for the deposit when the heads are ready for production.
I did not put any money down yet, BUT my name is on the list to be called FOR the deposit, when the heads are a "go":D

    joe,
anytime you want to match my 350 at 10,000 rpm, w/out a girdle, let me know. 7500 is an all day rpm. no brag, just fact.

10,000 rpm anything i like. tell me about your combo. what kind of power are you making and what does it run?

I would imagine it would take forced induction to make power at anywhere near 7500 rpm with a 350.. every ported head 350 I have tested was all done about 5300.. ran out of cylinder head. they actually start to slow down at as low as 4900.. and this is a fully ported 250+cfm head. Different camshaft combos would move this number around, but the basic cross section math puts the peak torque early.. about 4200 rpm.

The new single plane intake may change this, there is about a 400 rpm difference between a single and dual plane on a 455. Be interested to test with an SP3 here this year.

with ported heads, balanced, b/p block and bigger headers, the s/p has no problem pulling to 7500 rpm. none what-so-ever. it still pulls with the 4-71 with a 650 d/p on it.
and everything says it needs a bigger carb. tried them. the engine just doesn't like the others. it is in love with the 650 d/p.
if, big if, i can get the 455 intake welded, i will go to a 6-71. not going to alky or nitro. too much work.

No, just saw it on FB - very cool! Proves the 350's are very underrated engines and nearly bulletproof. Would love to hear more detials on the build.

I was out in Arizona for the zip-tie drags so I stopped by Mikes' shop. Talked to him for an hour or more, mostly about 350 stuff. We looked at the head he had on the flow bench when I stopped by. I liked his approach to port size, shape and flow. The intake numbers were very promising. He talked about casting the heads with a smaller reshaped combustion chamber to test since the current design is basically stock size and shape. When they are finished and in production we both feel with the flow numbers he is seeing 450-500 horse will be a reasonable expectation for a street engine. They are also very light compared to iron heads.... yep this is one of them

Nice. Are those other four heads by the cnc machine the rest of the 350 1st run?
If so, it doesn't look like the valves have been moved to center of chamber on those?

No they aren't, but the heart/kidney/figure 8/small chamber is what Mike said he is wanting to incorporate into the next casting run.
