Congrats to the 2018 winner Dave Hemker!! Thanks to all who show up for this class every year, and thank you to the new faces. Thank you Jim for organizing and herding all these cats.

That said, several regulars including Jim have discussed this and would like the class to grow. I know a lot of pretty drivers show up carring spectators, and a lot of very pretty show cars appear on Fridays-we wish you’d stay, make a qualifying pass or two, and race on Saturday! Many of the cars that run the class are ‘drivers’, not purpose built racers. If you have a stock or stock looking show car, or a driver that has manifolds and stock looking carburetor/air cleaner and wheels, you SHOULD run it. Most in the class are running slicks on matching rims (a small investment for the fun of a WOT launch). Currently we’re running the ‘pro’ tree, but we’re willing to hear opinions on switching to the ‘sportsman’ tree (along with any other ideas).

Any input, opinions, questions, post them! We everyone with a stock appearing car, show, driver, even project in process, to consider pitting in the circle track, hanging out, and racing. Ask here or PM Jim or me. We’re all friendly! Cone join in! We serve refreshments!

Congratulations to Dave, he's got a couple of hard running cars. That class certainly has an appeal to me, and would probably draw other FAST/Supercar/Pure Stock racers. I've seen other groups open that type of racing up to all stock musclecars as an exhibition group, and have quite a bit of success with it. For instance, a regional Mopar group invited the Supercar Shootout crew to run at their fall event at LVD, had a great car count and everybody was impressed with the stock tire ET's these guys were running. Your stock appearing class doesnt have to be limited to stock tire, but it's a neat way to bring in some diversity and car count without detracting from the Buick nature of the eliminations.

What a lot of people forget, is the racing is a HUGE part of the National's we used to get Magazine coverage and TV spots because the action was Non stop.

Building the Nationals back up is more important than ever now and the coming years. With Richard getting older along with the other "founding fathers" it's up to us younger guys to not only maintain at the very least but to make it grow.

BSA is attractive for a lot of reasons you get to run beside good looking cars that that people want to watch. If your concern is not knowing "how" or "the car being slow" or hurting the car etc that's what the other racers are there for, to show how to do it, how to make it faster and to help when something breaks. I hear people say "mine's to nice" all to often that's usually a coverup for unwarranted nerves about actually running the car, it's no different than stretching it's legs on the interstate.

Come out and truly participate in all there is to do

Thank You Patrick and Rhett for the compliments. For those of you who are considering racing in the BSA class we would really like to have you do so. I have raced my cars in Stock and or Stock Appearing form for 28 years at the GS Nationals, Pure Stock Muscle Car Race in Michigan and the FAST & Factory /Stock races in Michigan.

I do understand the reasons for not participating but please do so at least once to see what it is like. At the Pure Stock and the FAST & Factory Stock races there are many HIGH $$$ cars racing such as Hemi cars of all sorts, LS-6 Chevys, L-88 Vettes, COPO cars, Yenko's, RA III & IV Pontiacs, Cobra Jet Fords, Six Pack Mopars, 442's and GSX's to name a few as well as tribute or cars put together to look like the real deal. Put a little wax coating on the lower rear 1/4's and the rubber will wipe off quite easily. Yes there have been a few broken parts over the years however nothing so serious that it cannot be fixed. From 1992 - 2000 I drove my 455 - 4 speed convertible to the GS Nationals, raced it, entered it in the show, raced on Saturday and drove it home. The only break down was a transmission in 2000 which was changed in the pits, made it back on the track and 540 miles on the return trip home. I always carried a spare just in case.

Please do not be afraid to participate. I always have extra slicks with me if someone needs to use a set.

Not allowing Headers knock a huge number of cars available away IMO.

There’s several classes, including brackets, for cars with headers. Those classes may need promoting, but with BSA we’re trying to reach the dozens of show and spectator cars we see every year that don’t run any class.

    Beamer Suncoupes Rule !!!

Headers takes away 2/3rd's of the Buick Stock Appearing name of the class. More people are realizing that headers are not needed to make a car quick. And the appearance of a quick car in factory trim under the hood impresses many people. Add to that, we have found people who port the exhaust manifolds to find a compromise from installing headers and their downfalls.

The class is a lot of fun and the camaraderie is amazing. We help one another out, loan parts back and forth and enjoy the sustained WOT blast down the 1320 !

Well that certainly changed everything with that explaination, all of now that would love to have fun with our cars will simply go and buy exaust manifolds and full 2" exhaust just so we can join in...………..Makes zero sense when applied to my statement. You should have to run stock tires, and plug wires...…….and also remember that pesky 2" exhaust that I bet NO ONE HAS??????
