Many of you have been following our progress, sometimes lack of progress with our project. For all those that have helped to encourage us we just want to say thank you for the encouragement. Like any of us in life sometimes life gets in the way of the projects we want to do and we just need to do what is right. Family first.....

Now back to the regular schedule and direction of the project at hand.

Better heads for the TA block at hand. We are and have been focused on a top line head for maximum racing efforts.
We have taken many ideas from speaking with engine builders, and racing many different engine platforms. When you try to join all this info, every single aspect of the project is changed. I don't believe any 1 thing resembles anything from the original thought we started with.
The video clip below is from a few design changes back. It should show the direction we are going.
We have 3 sets of heads being machined as of 2 days ago in T-355 aluminum recommended by Al Dickson.
We have 3 sets of heads being machined next in 60-61 aluminum because I have it for our smaller heads I'll use on the 445cu.in. Tomahawk.
We will then be doing forged billets after those are done.

These heads will out flow what we have out there now by a substantial amount. We will flow the head when done and the numbers will be posted here.
I know the computer numbers but I like hard info multiple flow numbers and actual time slips in an established et vehicle.

ken will be able to answer more of the questions I'm sure will be coming.

    A few answers to start.

These are solid billet heads no water jackets. We have made sure we have enough material to drill water passages if needed. Our application and those of a few of the serious people following our project will not use this feature.

We will make a valley pan for our engines and offer one if someone needed one for their application.

Yes you will need an intake for just these heads. We will have one for boosted roots or ProCharged . Maybe one for carbureted if needed.

These head and intake packages will not fit under a stock height hood.

We will have valve covers that go with these heads these are large covers. Mine will be billet for the prototypes.

We are doing this to go as fast as we can and help as many fellow Buick Diehards, defy the majority in the pits.
I'm encouraged by those that say you can't do that or you'll need more than a Buick to run with us.
Again a big thank you from Ken and I and our families for the Support and patience with this project.

Now on to a quick video of the head before a few final big changes.

I will post a link tomorrow that is not from photobucket I'm done with that site. Sorry for anything in the link..........

Let me know if you need a local test mule! :TU:

Sounds like a game changer for some serious horsepower.

What heat treat conditions are intended?

This is gonna be exciting - cant wait to hear the results! It could be cool to go wicked fast without any power adder.

Wow, isn't that funny. I mentioned Small block Chevy SB2 design how many years ago? Everyone ridiculed me on it and to top it off, I was talking about it being billet? Good luck on this design. Its old news but never was made, I hope you don't run in to a poo storm like I did when I mentioned sb2 design and billet too. Please post pictures as they come about. Ken, don't forget now, that Visner Engineering Design does make Billet buck heads any way you want them, for less testing is needed threw them, same with LSM systems engineering, they do them to and billet Buick blocks too.

These heads, the monster ProCharger, your help and all this in a 1,700 lb missle should be a fun ride.

I'm impressed. This is no small feat, and that's coming from an ex CNC programmer/operator. Some of the cylinder head talk in the past dropped the word "billet", when instead it seemed they were simply working on castings with some cores removed. Kudos and looking forward to more news.

I'm interested in how this is gonna actually "turn out".

Devon, The ones I talked about was not castings with cores moved about but actual billet pieces. I'm interested in the design, it looks very familiar! I'll be interested in the price.

John is in Maine now, Maybe could use your help with the Dragster. He will be going from well over 800 HP to well over 3,000 HP. That is serious for a Buick!

The billet was heat treated before we received it. I don't know what they did. But the shop who is doing our head makes their own and they are pretty impressive. When their head breaks I will worry about ours. With that said, We had Al Dicksen heat treat a set of S4 heads before he put the final touches on them and shaved the heads before assembly. Nothing like perfection! If we need any additional help my Dad worked in the metal industry his whole life and I do get info from him whenever I want it. He usually gives me books on metallurgy. I'd rather just listen to him. Did I forget to mention he is a metals Genius, Oh yeah and grandpa too, (God rest his soul)?????

Ports are being machined in heads today. I have pics from early monday morning but John started the thread and is on the road for a few days so he can load them when he gets home. We will see what kind of numbers we get out of the box. Looks like well over 500cfm with a 2.450 valve. A 2.500" valve will work, but flow into the cylinder may see some unwanted disturbance. We will post the numbers that everyone will see out of the box. When we run the 4.360" bore heads we will do the same for them. Remember flow isn't everything but with these numbers you will gain respect. For us, we can just turn the boost up until the elusive high to mid 5 second ET's are achieved. When these are done (by the end of the month), they go to Jesel for top fuel strength rockers!
