With that spool to turn do u just hold the brake and spin the rear wheels

    Say Briz,
wat oil system did u go with on ur motor this time? I'm lookin a getting an oil acumalator for mr Riv. Along with doin the balance line to the rear lifter Gally plug.

The Regal has a full spool in the Ford 9" turning 4:56 gears. Has a Transgo break and I run Line lock to hold her still while the tires heat up.

I got with Steve Reynolds @ SRE. He hooked me up with a Peterson belt drive external wet sump pump.

How do you get an external wet sump pump if the pump is external? I may be not understanding the terminology but that sounds odd. I thought that a wet sump ment the pump was in the oil pan. I guess a wet pump pump don't sound as good .does your system also have an acumalator ? Are you doing the balancing line thing too ? And does that eliminate the gears in timing cover , or what do u use for a cover and filter?

"Basically", a wet sump means "oil stored in the oil pan" and a dry sump means "oil stored in a remote tank". The "sump" will be wet or dry. Way more to it than that, but you should get the idea.

does the Peterson system have any prestart presurization, and does it also enter oil into block at rear as well. Just curious

The Peterson system is basically just the pump and hardware. They don't do anything specific for the Buick engines. I usually figure all that out for the customer...... and yes, I always recommend an oil line going to the rear of the block.
The "pre-oiling pressurization" can be done in a number of ways. Peterson does make a remote oil filter housing that has a small pump built into it that you can spin with a drill to pressurize the system. I haven't used one so I can't comment on how well they work. An "oil accumulator" is the best way and my choice is to use a MasterLube System. Moroso and a few others make then also, but I really like the MsterLube. (http://masterlube.net/systems.htm).
You can go to their site and read it over.

X2 on Masterlube - I love the setup on mine! Push the button and 10 sec later you have 20-30 psi on the oil gauge, before you turn over the motor.

Found one of these complete on RJ for 300.00. Missing the switch.

X3 on the MasterLube. Besides the pre-oiling feature (which I love btw), it eliminates the problem I was having down in the shutdown. As I would slow down after crossing the stripe, my oil pressure would drop to 0 psi for five seconds or so until I got on the return road and gave it some gas. When the rpm came up, so did the oil pressure. My belt-driven oil pump was emptying the pan (all 11 quarts) faster than it could drain back to the pan. Enter MasterLube! Works like a charm. Now as I slow down it holds at 20 psi and as soon as I'm on the return road I shut the switch off so the tank can refill from the engine while I'm driving back. :TU:

So with no acumalator the line to the rear tees off the sending unit tap at front of block, can u get enough volume through that sending unit port? Would taping that larger take away too much oil and pressure?thats with a TAcover ,housing , and all oil passage mods. And u still have to get itin the back at the lifter Gally plug with a right angle fitting. I may answer myself and say a 5/16 line and fitting is max, or is it 1/4

Its my understanding that the factory pressure sending unit location needs to be drilled and tapped to 1/2" and is the main feed port for the ext pump. I was supplied with a "T" with additional holes tapped into it for my oil pressure line and a switch. The pump pushes oil into that "T" it goes into the block through the regular passages as well as the feed line to the rear of the block. Steve R gave me a drawing to follow when I set up the lines. Maybe he can post it here also.
