Can anyone tell me where the clutch return spring hooks up? Just bought a 70 455 stage 4 speed. Clutch petal hangs about an inch lower than the brake petal. Bought the spring not sure where the correct mounting points are.

I have the original spring but it's broken. The one I ordered from year one looks nothing like it.

You can also use a girdle strap; just make sure it is ivory color.

One end of my spring is attached to the hole in the clevis pin. The pigtail of the spring replaces the hair pin clip on the clevis. The other end goes into a hole in the frame right next to the engine cradle. There is a hole in the side of the frame

I used to leave the hitch pin in and there was enough space to pull the spring around the clevis pin using the shoulder to retain it between the fork and the top of the pin....I didnt like the idea of spring breaking and no more hitch of the pin...
