I want to add the T/A stage 1 intake and a cam and lifter set up to my stock 350. Do I need any head work or will the stock heads be fine?

I'm sure you already figured this out but no you don't need head work...just a perfect opportunity if you have the cash..future reference for all that didn't know.

Picked up a complete 350/350 combo.
My son wants to do a build on it this winter.
Its his car, and he wants a monster...something that scares old ladies off the street, and makes women pull their kids back inside the house until he's past...

    Raunchy,...lumpity, lumpity, lumpity cam.
Blow the tires off with a mash of the go pedal...

What do we need for a parts list?
Will the TA SP3 intake with 850 double pumper work ok?
    Just how much compression? 11:1?
    Valve sizes requirements?
Looking for a 4 core aluminum rad...any idea or links?

This is his "Look at me" car...only really drives it in town...cruising around...no long trips.

    Thanks in advance.

11 to 1 will require pump gas. or go 12 to 1 and run e85 if that's available near you. get a custom ground cam from scott brown(buyracingparts.com) or go roller. your going to need to cram the biggest valves you can and port heads to maximum,1.92/1.55 are available. . your going to need proper rear gearing. proper trans setup/convertor size.
consider a big bore setup. sonic test block for size of pistons. .100 overbore would bump cubes up almost 20 extra.

No raunchy lumpity lumpity cam for that.

Except for one problem... it still blows head gaskets and has not made a good run yet.

The 11.1 comp should work may need some race gas for a little extra octane. I run 5 gal with 15 gal of 93.

The SP3 with a Holley will work fine. I like a double pump myself.

Port the heads out, put in larger valves.

use a 3000 stall, 373 -411 gears, if you do the 200r4 trans you can go to the 411 gears.

mine has been reliable for 20+ years

cam some where in the 230-255 range and 510 lift or more if you like, mine is a 230-245 @50 510 lift 116 lsa Lunati
Pick the one you like, whether it is a TA cam which no one seems to like for some reason, or a Crower cam which look good Level 4 sounds good, or the Scott Brown cams that a few people like here too.

I would do the roller cam now eliminate the lifter problems with the old school cams so there it has to be custom.

You will hear arguments all day long on all of this so do what you feel is best with the information given. Which is usually the case here.

    Thanks for the info guys!
Will be porting the heads for sure.

    For sure items:

    T/A SP-3 intake
Holley 750 or 850 double pumper
    T/A headers
    1.92" and 1.55" valves

Are the roller rocker mod kits still available? (Using the small or big block Chevy rockers)

Good company for the Pistons/rings? (Anyone use gap-less?)

We want to get away from the points distributor...should we just order a T/A HEI unit?

You can get a pertonix or other conversion that uses your distributer or even let points trigger an msd box. Check buyracingparts.com for pistons . they have custom head gaskets also for big bores. Can do custom cams also.

If we wanna go that route? Is there a problem or issue with installing this type of roller rockers on the sbb?
We. are very new to the Buick scene, and any info that would save headaches is very much appreciated.

Had a look at the Crower site.
The stage 4 sounds like the cam for it, as the transmission we have already has a 22-2500 stall. (May have to upgrade to a 3000 while the engine is out, just to save the bottom end response.)

If we were to go with a roller cam...any suggestions?
