I had this same problem. Never found a heavier one, was going to use the existing one as a template and make one but ended up going to a hydraulic setup. I do know your linkage geometry has alot to do with it, but I could never get it right and got tired of messing with it. (Sorry, I know that's not much help, but just letting you know I can relate!)
X2! FYI, I have done quite a bit of reseasrch on the various offerings in the market for after market manaul transmission linkage and clutch parts. Much to my chagrin, I can attest that THEY all suck, staight up.:rant: Is your car a factory stick car or conversion?
Are you working with your factory frame bracket or repop and are the rest of the parts OEM or any repop items being used/
I replace the clutch four months ago when I rebuilt the trans and I noticed the bracket bent some at that time but didn't give much thought. When I installed the new clutch I had to keep adjusting the linkage over a period of time until the bracket bend over and hit the frame until didn't move anymore. If there is no heavy duty brackets out there I will make a small wedge to slide between the bracket and frame, so it doesn't bend and hit the frame this should keep everything true. I have own the car for over a year now. Thanks Ron
I tig welded 2 little gussets on the inside of a repop that was not the right bend to start with so i cut it almost in two first and it is fine now.
Mine kept bending and mostly stopped bending when the rest of the system got fixed. My problem was a repo fork - it was just a little too short and that change stacked up poorly at the fork pivot.
If the factory setup is bending with all factory clutch parts, make sure the motor and transmission mounts aren't fatigued. They could be sagging causing an issue.
The engine + trans mounts are good. I have an Rhino-Pac Clutch 04-505SR100 this is 50 lbs heavier that the stock clutch. I think this is causing the issue. I think you may be on to something with the heavier clutch causing excessive pressure on that bracket but to be clear, are ALL of the other parts in the clutch pedal linkage original to the car? If so, you may need an adustable pivot fork ball to correct a geometry change caused by the heavier clutch.
