No we don't. We used to but we bowed to the pressure of the delay box crowd, of which I apparently am now a part of! :TU:
I doubt that......that you will be alone, that is. As far as being in the winners circle....we'll have to see about that.....
Good luck Saturday I was planning on being in the winner circle again but plans change I'll be working all weekend so good luck guys suck weather looks great from some racing
Looks like Doug will be his own worst enemy as he has more electronics onboard than all the guys we race with. ou: I remember not long ago Doug said no to dragsters as they have electronics and that made for an unfair advantage for the dragsters. I'm glad I have a shift lite and transbrake otherwise I'm not sure how I could have been in the finals at the GS Nationals. I apologize for posting the above but I thought you were adamantly against electronics in your form of racing. Congratulations on the performance you are achieving with the new combo(engine and suspension). Have a great weekend at the track and keep it safe and fun. Again Doug I am surprised you are using a delay or any electronics in your car. I do understand that to race on a regular basis at some tracks pro and super pro are the only classes. We run Super pro here with the digital folks. We just don't have all the gadgets. See you in the fall.
would love to do it. bad knees and a few other parts makes e-exits real tough. now i'm recovering from a nasty concussion(#6) which i really hate. makes everything i do tough. besides, the kid really likes driving the rail.
I've never had to force my oldest kid to drive the car, and now his little brother wants to know when he can have his turn. By the way, congrats Doug on the new numbers with the car, hope to see it at the Nat's this year.
My apologies. That comment was made in jest. I guess after reading your whole thread on the bundle of pipes, I feel like I know you. Sorry about the bump on your head.
I was never a fan of delay boxes but if I was "adamantly against electronics in our form of racing", there would be no delay boxes in Super-16, and there are. Fully half the cars in every Buick Q-16 field have them. Mike Modena won Super-16 last October in Bowling Green and he uses one. The Zeruchas, Rob Chilenski, Rob Giroux (now) to name a few more. Jim Weise cut through the field like a hot knife thru butter around 15 years ago using a box (and a ton of bracket race experience). There are a few other guys who use it as well. As for me, as I said.....I got tired of red-lighting so now I let go of the trans-brake button on the top yellow bulb instead of the bottom. Big deal. As far as your dragster comparison, you are misquoting me. I didn't say dragsters have electronics and that made for an unfair advantage. I said if I allowed your dragster, I'd have to allow all dragsters. I also said I (or anybody else) could take a Super/Comp dragster with a delay box and throttle stop, drop a Buick engine into it, and drop double zero reaction times and 8.90 e.t.s on 8.90 dial ins through four rounds of Super-16. That would quickly spread so the next year there would be a couple more dragsters looking for an "easy payday" beating up the usual Buick racers. I'm not about to turn our class into anything other than what it is....Buick bodied and Buick powered doorslammers. You're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole because you built a car without a class to run in, and you're trying to squeeze into this one. It's not about you and your dragster, it's about what happens after that. It would be opening up a can of worms that I have no intention of opening. Super-16 stays as it is, case closed. And please, no more thread hijacks. Thanks.
Btw, I made four passes at Lebanon today, all between 8.73 and 8.78. Mph ranged from 151.63 to 154.84. That delay box is unforgiving....two passes I was late and the reaction times were .329 and (in the quarterfinals ou .444 and when I wasn't sleeping I cut an .027 and an .022, so with some more practice I'll get there. :TU:
Wait till you're watching the slower car leave first and realize your top bulb has been on for a while.
Doug backed out of the lights because after re-setting his wheelie bars - he didn't think Marvin singing Get on UP !! was appropriate race music to dance to .. .. So he asked them to change it He then proceeded to decrease the Earth's rotational velocity
Pretty sure that 8.80 was the number he gave me at breakfast earlier that day. :TU: Saw this run from further up the track.
Actually Alan, they hit me with a pro tree, since the BCO race class had just run before I pulled up to the line and nobody changed the tree. I wanted to practice my reaction times on a full tree for Q-16 so I backed out and asked the starter to change the tree and I'm glad I did. As you can see on the scoreboard....an .015! That's outstanding for me. :TU:
I liked my interpretation better o No:uzzled:ou: .. took me 3 or 4 viewings to even pick up on the music in the background with that 8 part harmony your motor was singing
