Here is my point, by going to cylinder heads that can do what I'm doing without porting is the easy way out. I like my challenge . now, on the so called TA Heads, maybe you should consider them Ken Bettes heads, ta is the money behind it again. No offense mike T. but its the truth rt. Billet buick cylinder heads are nothing new, just google it and find out your self..

Idk I'm still lost for words after seeing the yellow tail end of the video....
Dude this is the web...you will get the nay sayers and the like... ignore and keep rolling. Or show out and look as ignorant as them... your choice. This is where thick skin comes in. I for one don't like people talking bad about the companies making Buick products... there's a reason why we don't have a guy for turbo stuff anymore... and that's it!

Yes, that would be the one.. I talk with a lot of people. I even asked him if he would do a bbb either supercharged or turbo, he told me he would love to have someone come in and wanted something done because he would show he can be very diversified in all engines then!

If you really think that on someone for buicks, then you need to ask Mike at ta about Mike Moran him self purchased a aluminum v6 block and its done and it has more power then most people can comprehend. if you have a facebook account you should friend Moran racing engines and see for yourself on his personal Grand National. Mike T. at TA can not even come close to what Mike Moran can do. Mike T is for the lower set of people that want ti play but not go hog wild. TA has some real good parts for the every day user but not for someone like Ken Bettes or anyone in that nature. Mike Moran eanted to test out the aluminum v6 block, and boy will he ever! TA also makes the aluminum v8 Tomahawk block, is it the best? For being cast aluminum, heck ya! Is it the only aluminum buick big block available ? Nope, there is several companies I could name make a all billet block. The point I'm making is this, If someone can get a person to do billet heads then someone could've gotta Mike T. a CFD Program! Remember when someone said to me about out sourcing? Well, its happening rt now. I don't mean any disrespect to Mike T. in any way here. All I ever wanted to do is help...
    Sincere. Gary M.

TA is in business to make a profit and their product line is based on what will sell not what will make the baddest engine on the planet. why spend a 100 grand or more developing and producing a product that maybe 10-15 people would buy? so far you've come across as all talk and very little action, you've badmouthed a reputable Buick vendor and rubbed many people the wrong way. how about some substance for a change? I know you think you're impressing people but really you're not.

Now, back to regular programming ...Here is what I have learned since I was away for a bit. Here is some quote's for you all, some are from Dart Machinery and other cylinder head companies . "The more poorly the turn into the valve throat area is, the smaller the valve appears to the port." , "As the port INCLINATION becomes steeper, it is able to utilize the valve better and the valve appears to the port to be bigger; hence, a bigger port is optimal." , "There is more to the combustion chamber than that which resides in the cylinder head. A lot only is it necessary to take care of business prior to mixture arrival at the cylinder but, also after the charge is trapped within the cylinder." , "Higher swirl values in high-rpm engines need to be accompanied by good mixture preparation ." , "At least a small amount of swirl is positive , even in a 10,000 rpm 500 CID Pro-Stock engine." , and this is from Dart them selves, "Traditional flow benches are still a useful tool in cylinder head development, but CAN NOT PROVIDE ANY DATA REGARDING THE FUEL HANDLING CAPABILITIES OF A PORT OR CHAMBER DESIGN ." I know there is the port analyser program out there but it does nothing in terms of fuel going through the ports. I'm still gathering more information so stay tuned. Sincere Gary M.

Frank, as you can go read, I applaud Mike T. for making good quality parts for the every day user. Know that being said, your are actually helping me, how you ask? Look at TA's cylinder head development program? No new designs at all not even a improvement on existing heads for how many years? Yes, there has been many that has spent thousands of dollars to have the TA Stage 2 T.E. reconfigured completely just to make almost a thousand horsepower! Isn't it funny that the Stage 3 and 4 was suppose to be the bad butt heads? I did a simple search in here on them and found out they are a big paper weight compaired to the Stage 2 head! See, its like this, I rather buy from TA then any one else if he had the ability to get these high end parts. For example, look at the Mopar intake used on a lot of the stroker engines. I would want to buy all my stuff for one place and not go any where else but that's impossible rt now. I understand TA does not deal in superchargers, Turbo's or Nitrous oxide but he could make a alliance with the people the does and have kits made. Nitrous oxide kits are sild by almost every performance shop in America, do they have their name on the nitrous kits? No. I rather have majority of the things on hand and what's not on hand, I can get in a few days easly. Do you see what I'm saying now? Mike T. is a great guy and his company is good but needs updated that's all.. Sincere. Gary M.

    Totally agree.
Gary mentioned TA aren't the only people company making Aluminum BBBuick blocks.
Is it the only aluminum buick big block available ? Nope, there is several companies I could name make a all billet block
The BS just doesnt stop Gary. You will have to enighten me on the others you have seen, coz I cant find any...................
The more you badmouth the guys that actually do something for us, rather than say they will, and clearly cant, any creditability you have will dissappear.........

Just call any of the billet block makers and ask, I did ;) Your correct no one advertises about making buick parts but there is companies out there. TA has more then any of them can offer though. I'm not bad mouthing TA I'm simply stating he needs to open his horzion more that's all. Its not just about having your company name on everything!

Your correct on not having any experience on bbb heads but it doesn't take a genius to figure things out once you see it first hand. The Small block ford heads are far worse then any bbb head and I seen where I could impove on it and definitely did! The cast heads of a chevy same thing, the pontaic heads, done them too. Did I use a flow bench even once, hell no, but time slips prove I made a big difference ! Like I said before, I'm going to school to farther my knowledge on ALL heads not just bbb! This in return makes me ten time more experienced then someone of five years experience. My families back groun has people u would not believe but, I come for a family that knows a bet more about air and fuel flow throw a engine then most people. I'm going to leave at that. P. Muller and Have talked about what I'm gonna do and I promise you this, your gonna say "yup , he know a thing or two." Here is a hint for you, olddd school! Sincere Gary M.

Sir I believe your pipe dream engine build is the only reason you still have a membership here.... I will ask you once more please stop down playing the company that supports this group of folks. This bs really just doesn't stop does it? Reframe from saying ta and owner/employees associated do not produce or are not of a caliber to produce awesome products. I REALLY think the mods should stop this Chimera...
    Sincerely, Ceas350

There's at least one guy in this thread that has a billet block in the shop he machines Buicks at.
Another one works with 65k engines, maybe more high $$ builds.
Seems there's some humble talent in the Buick world.
    Remember, it's a gentleman's car.

I think most have been trying to offer sound advice within the context of a "head porting thread", under the parameters offered by Gary's intended build.

As mentioned, the various builder's are probably not limited so much by skill, and choose to work with projects and clients they intentionally market themselves towards.
We all can't build 100k engines, there's just not enough of those customers to go around.
My customers bracket race and sand-bag heavily. They don't want certain information divulged.

It's a fine line between offering advice and giving away your life's experiences and education used to put food on the table.
Such information was highly valued and learned in the form of apprenticeship, or a lifetime of growing a business.
The internet is filled with lots of info on builds in the 1000hp range.

Gary, there's not enough books out there on extreme performance builds.
You have all the motivation in the world.
Looking forward to seeing your book. :TU:
    I'm being subtle here. :)

As soon as my kanooder valve is finished being machined out of Unicorn bone, my 2000hp NA 231cid Buick V6 will make its debut. It came to my attention that with just a few simple adjustments such as reversing engine rotation, handbuilt wood heads, handbuilt epoxy intake and pistons machined from dragons teeth,. It really came to life! Should easily run 6's maybe 5's if the cockpit cable adjustable valve timing works as I envision it

You are correct, I just would like TA to grow like the other aftermarket people have.. Mike is doing good at his shop. I am not doing a book any more ! I have called majority of book publishing companies and they say there is not enough interest in Buick's any more. Sincere Gary M.

Well, I decided to take some great advise from a member on here and going forth on buying a couple sets of big block Buick heads and document everything I have done and some flow numbers right along with possible wet flow pictures . I won't be posting much on this thread until I'm finished with them. I will post everything I did with them, including me purchasing them to pictures of them afterwards . Shoot, I'll even post. where I had them flowed and wet-flowed at. Matter of fact, I'm going to have two different places do them to compares numbers. I don't want no douts on this!

    Sincere Gary M.

    P.S.
Let my hunt begin ! ;)

By the time you do all that you might of been able to buy a used bench and really see what needs to be done. Of course you can improve the heads with out one but to do what you are trying to do will be hit and miss and lots of trips to a shop to see if you made any improvement. At about a 100 bucks a shot. I have no idea how much it cost to wet flow or how close one is to you. Good luck

Funny you should say that, majority of the stock classes are not stock heads any more. Dart got the ok from NHRA to use their new stock replacement camel back heads and a few other companies had the same thing. Guess what? All those heads were wet-flowed! That's why there back on top! Yes, several aftermarket companies got the ok to reproduce factory heads to there port spec's ! Call any of the aftermarket companies if like ;)
