Heads havent been started yet so we cant give a time frame, and liek you said the cam blanks could be a couple months depending on how the company making them moves along. If someone wants a crank for the new block they should call and order now because they take about 8-12 weeks.
Awesome Rod/Danie. It would be great to hear some feedback. How hard are you going to lean on it compared to your iron motor? Cheers Royden
Just more rpm and more boost. my heads limit any big cams or really high rpms. Like my machinist said "your bottom end is good to 10,000 rpm your heads about 7,500..." lucky me.. AJPE or BAE looks better every day..
byron.. but i dont expect car to run very fast, im sure tune up will be way off, it will be fast by bpg in Columbus
Went 4.51 at 155 in 1/8,, went lean and banged blower new rpm and blower are going to take some getting used to , im tearing down to check for damage
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a 7.20 ish 1/4 mile pass? Sorry to see you guys had problems. Chris
Alright everyone! The blocks are ALMOST DONE! We're going to pick them up this weekend if they're done by then or if not either go get them next weekend or have them delivered. :beer
Nice. I was going to ring your dad this morning, but I might try tomorrow to further discuss my combo. Cheers Royden
I have a deposit on a block, and after the post from Mike jr. I called to see when I could come get it, I was told 2 to 4 more weeks......... Gary Giessen
I was reading this post on the cast iron block thread and thought I would copy and paste here to help people understand really what it takes money and time wise to build a block. Its post #209 here http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=206413&page=9 Hi Tim. We get asked this a lot. So, I went and asked what a new block project roughly costs. Research, design and development of a new tool to cast from is roughly $250,000. Then the tooling must be created to machine the castings, which will cost another $100,000 or so. All this has to also be justified by the casting of at least 200 Blocks at $3000 each (wholesale) blocks that would already be sold before even one was made. That is only one of the many requirements for a market to make a new block possible. Others include legal details, design copyrights & marketing expenses. We are currently producing a new 409 but releasing them 30 at a time at first to get them out there faster. It took a year to get those first 30 deposits and that was for a very popular block that nobody makes. Regular production should begin by the end of the year. The whole process has taken over 3 years and we have yet to ship one. It is all about basic supply and demand. Hope this helps. Angelo J. Liguori
Just remember we did all of that without requiring the blocks to be sold, yet alone a deposit :TU: They are saying 200 blocks at $3000 and we're at roughly 30 at $5900 to $7500 which is the equivalent of them requiring 100 blocks at $6000 each. Also an Update: Next Thursday (November 11th) we're going to the machine shop to pick up the blocks and bring them back to the shop! So they should be ready to ship shortly after that. :beers2:
