Duration causes valve-piston clearance issues way before lobe lift does.:TU:

Valve to piston clearances should be checked in every engine build.

Very useful post.... Why are you having trouble with the fact that a 350 could make power? I know the 350 heads I have here ran 11s NA and made over 500 hp at the wheels so why all the doubt?

I am playing around on the same simulator as Michael with the same combo and numbers.... I made two changes that really helped out! Larger primary headers, and porting on the exhaust side to numbers typical for a good porting job.

I even got a pop up warning saying that we had gone over 100% VE.... Time for a 1000 cfm carb.

Yes, I added some flow numbers from here:

I also added 2" primary headers.

Phil It really *is* a 350...

The best part about running a 350 is that when you beat the other guy, he's even *more* humiliated when he finds out that you did it with 105 cubic inches less than he thought you had. :)

I just upped the compression to 12:1, added a singleplane intake to go with the 2" primary headers.... The torque picked up big time! Also went to electric fan, and electric waterpump WOW, good numbers!

You can get stuck there playing with things and settings for hours hu? :pp Lets try a bigger carb, more compression, what about this cam, or that one, some stroke, hehe.

Keep in mind Sonny seal ran 1500 cfm through a tunnel ran intake on his 350, if it can take it feed it.....

So I have pictures, its just that my picture hosting account expired so I cant upload any more haha. We were playing with the idea of fitting a set of the Rover heads onto my block actually.
