The Fourteenth Annual Team Buick vs Team Ford Headsup Shootout will be November 1, 2008 at TVRP, Noble, Oklahoma. This years Event has added to the Buick Team, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac, and GMC trucks. As Team Members, they bring with them any combination of GM engines, which are now legal in any of the above platforms, including Buick. As in the past, out of state Team Buick racers race for FREE, compliments of the Oklahoma Buick Performance Club, a Chapter of the GSCA. See OKBuicks site for flyer and more details, or ask here. Hope to see you there. Dick Walker, Director, OKBuicks
sounds great, ill be making the trip up from Corpus to spectate this year, as we sold our Turbo car and will be up there to have some fun and look for a V8 Buick for sale
Dick, I'll be there along with probably 10-15 LSPBC members. I'm bringing 2 cars and a truck:3gears: The GN, the Sky and the tow vehicle is a Rainier!
I was afraid that your car would sell quickly. Any chance that the new owner will bring it? I'll be there again with the GN this year as always. :beer
the new owner of the TType lives pretty far north in the US.. We do still have the 86 GN "11.20" car, but its not ready for Noble.. I talked with Disco Stu about riding up with him, to help support and cheer on Team Buick:TU:
I have a friend that reminded me about this yesterday. He will be racing his 87 GN. I think I'll dust the GSX off and drive over there to catch the action! :3gears:
Would sure like to hear the report!! Hellooooooo Oklahoma...click ...click... Helloooo?? Anyone there?!?
I'm here!! Good news, my friend's GN won his race with best time of 11.4. Bad news, Ferds won overall event. There was a (I think 69) GS there that hauled azz! He was running low 9's! I didn't run my GSX...not that everyone wasn't egging me on to do so. I worry about an old #'s engine...figure it's not worth the risk. But I'm sure I would have blown them all away...bias plys and all! I never saw so many GN's all in one place before. There must have been 30-40 of them. There were also several GNX's. It was a fun day...just would have been better if the Buicks would have won.
Well thank-you so much for responding! I am so sorry to hear that the Buick's took a nose dive. I attended last year, I spent so much time just cruising around in the countryside and loved every minute of the solitude, dazzling blue skies, oil wells to photograph and BBQ! Ohhhhh, the food...ray: more please!!!
I have posted my many photos from this event on our website at www.lspbc.org. Swing by sometime and see if I may have taken a pic of your ride. No 56K though or you will likely crash.
Full results and pictures can be seen on the Okbuicks site. okbuicks.com Another win for the Ford Team, but it was a great time. With 94 pairs in the finals, it was an all day thrash. Thanks to all those that support this Event. We will do it again for the 15th year on October 17, 2009. Dick Walker
Hey Mike, take a look at the pictures, we even had an Edsel there running 11s. But as you guessed, fox bodies are very popular and quick. DW
