Just talked to the Manager at Ruby Tuesdays at Belair Plaza Atlantic Avenue Daytona. The tenants in the Belair Plaza, including Ruby Tuesdays, had a revolt against a shopping center owner today at 1 pm because his attempts to stop the cars are killing their business. As a result cars will be allowed at the Plaza on Atllantic. He told me about 200 cars are in the parking lot already this afternoon and the TRR does not even officially open until Thursday. If you show at Belair Plaza tell the manager at Ruby Tuesdays and the other shop owners how much you appreciate their help in keeping the cars coming to Bel Air Plaza.

Plaza has been going full tilt for the last two nights. Cars are backed up for blocks to get in. We have seen quite a number of Buicks for sale--mostly big cars. The only rare Buick part we saw was a Super Wildcat air cleaner sans lid.

We drove over from Tampa this evening and went straight to the Belair Plaza cruise in. We got in around 8 and stayed until 10 when things were winding down and cars were leaving.

We'll be heading to the show Friday! From what I saw at the Plaza tonight I expect to be amazed at the cars in the show!!

Jim, Just got home. The traffic, as usual, was awful coming and going. As we were leaving, a friend called and asked me if I had seen the GSX in the car corral. He said they were asking 39.5k. And was noted it was an original. I did not see it as I spent most of the time looking at the parts. Did you see it? -Mike

It was not there yesterday that I saw. I left when the rain started at 1 pm or so and went to Belair. I did not go back to the track today.

I did see some GS 350 cars for sale. One once had a vinyl top that someone removed only to see that the Marianas Trench had opened up all the way around the car --from driver's side quarter window to the passenger side and all along the back. I mean a several inches wide of rusty trench not just perforation.

I did see an 18K mile GNX that I would like to own.

I saw a GNX also for sale. I think it was 75k. It may have been the same one.

Did you see the all black '70 vert. Had a 464 in it. He did some unique things on the car. The paint was flawless.

Did not see too many GS cars. We were there with an Aqua mist '70 455, a Strato blue '71 Stage1, and a Fire red '72 Stage 1

Got John to look. He says there is a 72 Lark at the track that was painted Saturn yellow with X striping. Perhaps this is the car?

I thought the show was lame this year. They are letting too many cars in that arent up to par quality wise. 5k cars and I would say 1/2 of them were worth 5k or below....I dont know how they can fix this but this show is losing my interest and I have been to 7-10 of them over the years. As usual hardly any Buicks ...I did see a built 70-72 convert (dark grey) with a stage 2 scoop on it with the n25 exhaust option.

    Hey all,

Sorry to have not been able to make it down, especially after saying that I was going. I caught a cold on Wednesday, and was feeling like crap through Saturday morning. Started feeling a little better Sat afternoon, but did not feel like driving down, to just turn arounfd and come back home. Still a little below par.

When you say 5K cars, are you meaning in the car corral? Or the show entirely? Last year, I saw mostly VERY nice cars. I did not pay too much attention to the car corral much, and I am thinking that is what may be referred to.

Hopefully everyone made it back good. Maybe a little poorer

Maybe next year, I can meet up with some Buick guys down there :beer

    Later,
    Mike

Many nice cars there that I would be proud to own. There were some cars that would just be good for parts there but that is true at every big show.

Saw the X clone . It was nice car but pricey at 39k. The GNX was overpriced. One sold recently in Fla with 26 miles for 78k . The Blacked out GS conv was one of the show's killers in my humble opinion. I am generally a purist but the Black on everthing chrome and black tinted windows and top and interior was BADDDDDD to the Bone. :beer
