    Default 1970 Gs 455 Stage 1 Value

Hi there. I recently found this forum and am impressed with the level of knowledge from the members. I have recently acquired a 1970 GS 455 Stage 1 auto, and have decided that I have neither the time or $$$ to give it the restoration it deserves. It was acquired from the original owner of 40 years with 83,000 miles. It runs and drives. The car is very solid but does need full resto, no sheetmetal would need replacement. The documentation that owner had with it is amazing, bill of sale, window sticker, p-o-p, documenaion of every time he put gas, etc. I will try to get some pictures up in the next few days. Just trying to get an honest feel for what it is worth, thanks.

I'll start by saying 8-15k depending on what numbers match, color , options etc. If it needs a full resto count on 35-55k depending on how much you do yourself. Bill

Need more detail about numbers of engine and drivetrain matching, original parts and sheetmetal and so on for a price structure. If all is there,
I think the value of this car is much more higher than 15,000 dollars. I would buy any color combo right now. (All docs, matching numbers and original drivetrain) How many are really left?

If none of these conditions are there, Bill qoute is correct.

I hope this worked, is my first attempt. Like I said before this car needs restoration but is unbelieveably solid. It still wears its original paint although is scaley. Last night we had on the hoist and underside is great. The guy who bought it new had it "ziebarted". The documention is unreal. I have not checked all #'s yet but suspect no issues as original owner told complete history of car. When it was new he had a knock in motor. He took back to dealer in 1971 during a GM strike? At that time they put new crank, rods, bearings and other components which I have invoice for. The car had 8,000 miles and was still under warranty. He brought back to dealer 1,000 miles later and they replaced the short block as he was having same issue, I also have invoice for this. Car had not been run in four years until last night. The owner put Kenne Bell stage III heads on it in 1976?. The original heads are in the trunk and bear the right casting #'s and have the big valves. I am trying to describe the best I can, please ask any questions and I will try to respond, thanks.

I am really trying to establish a fair asking price for the car when I do decide to post it for sale. I do not know of a better source for this information due to the vast knowledge and dedication I have seen from members of this forum.

Cars with paperwork like that really have little or no value. You see, the paperwork takes all the mystery out of the transaction. Without that mystery (and all the fun it entails) the value goes right out the dumper. I'll send you a PM; see how much you can offer me to take it off your hands.

Bad market to sell at this time....take an easy way out....put a reserve on it of $50,000 and see how high the bidding goes on EBay.....if it does not sell, ebay only charges $10-15 for the listing......cheap way to determine the price for that car in this poor market.
