does anyone know how i should dispose of some old road flares? they were barried under the seat of a car i picked up and look to be as old as the car itself i want to toss them out without burning up the dumpster. how can i saftley get rid of them? i was thinking of just submerging them in water or something

I would just take them to the local police dept. and make it their problem...if they cant them I'm sure they will direct you to the right spot.

Good question - I found one under my Skylark's seat along with shot pellets when I changed the carpet.

Wear make sure you wear a fishing vest and put them in the pockets. The Police will be sure to relieve you of them quite quickly.

Wrap them up with duct tape and an old wind up alarm clock and a few wires to a battery. Leave it in a suitcase on a park bench. I'm sure someone will be along to dispose of them properly.

Soak in water good idea, lighting them off, good idea. You could put them in an outdoor bon fire and they will burn. they won't explode. unless they were actually used for fishing as mentioned above.

um NO we have enough crap dropped off here. Take them to the Fire Dept. But if the caps are on the striker is not going to work . Half the time they don't work anyways. So you can just dispose of them, either way.

Save them for 4th of July and light 'em off.

They will burn under water if lit and thrown in, which is pretty cool.

I would say take them to the local Fire Dept. I would think they will know what to do with them.

i actually found them just in time. im droping off the car in long beach to ship over seas next week. i would have had some explaining to do at the shipping port if they saw them. at first glance, i imagine they would have thought the worst.

Do you have moles in your lawn? The flares work pretty well to exterminate them. Just find the freshest mound and kick the top off, then light the flare and stick it in the hole. As they will burn under water, they will keep burning untill they are done. I'm not sure if it kills them, but at least they leave the area. Then they can be your neighbors problem.

Are you a tennis fan? Also, the soccer fans enjoy flares to make the game less

Hey firefighters don't want them either unless we are going camping and then we'll just burn them up.
