a few people i know got DVD players for themselves or from others for Christmas. the model is the APEX AD-1010W. it was sold alot by walmart and sold as low as 38 bux around thanksgiving. the manual says nothing about playing karaoke (CD+G) discs, but all 6 that people i know are able to play them fine. the TV display shows the graphics but does not show you which number track you are on and doesnt have mic inputs.

i went to get one for myself but that model has been discontinued. the new model is called the AD-1110W(looks about the same). so i took a CD+G disc and long patchcord back to walmart with me and hooked up th new player to one of their tv sets to test it out .... same thing ... it played karaoke like a champ. so i bought one, got it home and it too plays them fine. now i have a more permenant home player and dont have to hook up the real karaoke player every time the kids wanna karaoke.:bglasses:

Search Google for your Apex DVD player, there are a few "hacks" out there to make it region free, and a few other features you can change.

i read alot about th hacks and stuff ... one friend has the player they once made that lets you turn th macro-vision off and regions and insert your own screen saver ... .. it is pretty cool ... he is the one that turned me onto this karaoke thing.
but when i searched for info on the karaoke use, it seemed that most people were un aware of this function on these particular models.
