Just FYI to all Nailhead fans. Check out the July issue of Road and Track, page 99. It's an article about "ole Yeller II"! Could be one of the finest moments in the 401's history. Great article.
fenders were pretty rough. This show has some serious vehicles every year. One year they had a Rolls circa 1930 with a V-12 Merlin aircraft engine in it made "ex works" meaning @ Rolls factory. This year they displayed the Y-job, Lesabre and Wildcat GM show cars. Not clones!
Great Pic's!!! Thanks! The "Townsend" pics are of his cars at the old race course set up at Tucson International Airport...SCCA events as I recall. He built some pretty amazing Pontiac's for the drags in the late 60's and early 70's as well, and Townsend Racing Works is one of the only "Speed Shops" left in Tucson...just in there the other day buying carb parts. Thanks again for the pic's.
Ted, I'm envious! I wish I'd been able to see/hear it up close and personal as you did. Nice photo's! One of these days I'll get over to California for a nostalgia road race & show.
My friends and I bought the Old Yeller spares....ported heads, intakes, etc. There was even a homemade blower manifold. We'll use them eventually. Dan
