I was there, too. I have a picture of the same car but I can't post pictures. Well, I guess two pictures are enough. A friend of mine built that car. Tony Burrell found a really nice 70 Skylark and cloned it into a GS. He used to drive it to all our local cruise-ins. It is really nice, the VIN was the only thing that would give it away. I knew he sold it, but didn't know who he sold it to. Then he told me that person sold it to Tom Baker & it had received a "new" VIN courtesy of a totalled 70 GS. I soon as I saw it at Charlotte, I thought it was Tony's old car and when I saw Tom's name on it, I knew it was. Anybody know where it is now?
That's right, he's had so much activity I can't keep track. He actually sold it to Tom Baker to get $$ for the X. The GN he bought from Baker while he still had the clone. There's a cool story behind Jeff. He used to be a dyed in the wool Chebby man. He had a Monte SS he thought was the sh!t. I purchased a 71 GS with a 70 Rivvy 455 in it and he began to become slowly but surely converted once taken for a cruise. When they moved from NJ down to Charlotte, he befriended all the Carolinas chapter clan members, and he leap frogged ahead of me with cars and also has become posessed by the Buick bug. Just ask Terri, she must be on 10 different medications just to be able to live with him. He's got parts wrapped up in blankets under the bed, in the closet, it really is quite amusing. At least my parts are in the basement. One thing is for sure though, he is a perfectionist almost to a fault. If anything looks less than perfect, it could literally ruin his day. ou: So I've done my part in the Buick community to convert a non believer.
That's right Mike, Tony went and did it right, then Jeff in anal fashion took it to the next level for the couple years he owned it, going crazy with under hood items and correct this and correct that, even had it repainted and had a new vinyl roof put on. I drove it a few times, it really was a nice ride, quite tight on the road.
<---Tealgray Mist - Special Order Riv color Sorry I don't have a website to post a bigger/better picture. Is there another way to post a pic????
YES! Upload it from your PC. Select 'Attach File' at the bottom of the 'Reply to Topic' screen and it will browse your PC directory structure. Just pick the file from your PC and it will upload it to this BB. You may need to resize it through MS paint or another imaging tool. The BB will let you know if it is too big when you try to upload it.
Just seeing if I can post a picture. Read some instructions from Marco (I think) on this thread. I don't think it worked........... Hey, it did work! I'm dangerous now !:Brow:
Thanks for the help Marco. Don't know why I didn't know this before. Here is a shot of the car taken at the Cannibal Cruise in Truckee, CA last July.
I agree Phil...has caught my eye ever since I saw one live about 5 years ago. The wife is lobbying for yellow though. We both like aqua and yellow though...decisions, decisions. My car has a pearl interior with black top so I think either color would look great.
With the pearl interior and black top I think that the Aqua color would have better results. I think a darker color will set off the pearl interior better. That Aqua Mist is a beautiful color.
by the way dwbuick, whats your name? most of us guys here on the board post are names at the bottom of our post so we know whom we are talk too:TU: as for the aquamist me and another buddy were talking and he had asked me if i had see the pic. I told him YES I DID. So now it is the fight with my wife (poet) about painting the car aqua instead of black:ball: (wet sanding for years).
I agree! :TU: Here is Paul455's 1970 GS convertible (concours gold winner). The best description I have of this color is 'electrifying'. This paint looks like it's hooked up to 220 volts -
Im assuming that the "pearl" interior is a lighter color almost like a tan. If you notice the pictures of my Dart on page 1 you will see it has a tan interior with a black roof. It works okay together but Im not real impressed with it and would swap it out with a black interior in a heartbeat. But the problem is a lot of parts vendors seem to think that Mopar owners have money trees growing in their back yards and that any price is reasonable if you want the part bad enough. Given the option I would either go with the green and the "pearl " interior or if you must have yellow , check into the price of installing a black interior in your car.Speaking from experience I think you woud be much happier with the results Dan Dugan
Dan, The pearl interior is an off white with a pearlescent look in the sun. Its not as dark as a tan but it is not bright white. Best I can explain it. That aqua GS is something...think I have made up my mind. Dan 1969 GS350
another yellow GS Here is another pic of a yellow Buick. Theoretically, this is my wife's car........ Jim Lore
Jim, I love that GSX Convertible....Nice job:TU: Looking at your car I wonder why Buick never made one like it, I think it would have sold well....
Re: another yellow GS Hey Jim, were you at the 94 Nats? I remember this car. I think your wife was touching up the heads with red paint when I saw it. It was in the parking lot of the hotel, possibly the Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn ????
