Im new to Buicks and doing a resto on a 65 Special convert, I have a question about the X Brace shown in the picture. Was this a V8 or big block only brace? My Special is a V6 car and it does not appear to have ever had one installed. It will be returning from the paint shop soon and I will be installing an LS1. Was the purpose of the X Brace to stiffen up the front end and core support assembly? If so should I be installing one? The LS1 will be about 320hp/320torque with a 4L60 behind it. With it installed is there a conflict with the AC condenser? I know, so many questions, just looking for some help from some one thats been here before.
My apologies, I just spent the last hour trying to load a picture from the assembly manual, I hope it works.
last year a board member made a custom run on these, glad i got in on it. you can still find used originals on ebay and sometimes on here. I seen them on convertables I know they came on GS and convertables, dont think any hardtop skylarks/custom nor specials.deluxe got them search that part on ebay ,,reference chevelle for better chance of results I didnt find any on ebay i searched for Radiator Support Cross Braces
Mine was a 300 from the factory & didn't come with them.Probably a GS item. But they can be found with some loooking.
Thanks for the replys Guys?<o></o> Anyone know the name or POC for the member that made them?If he might have any left?<o></o> I dont think they were used in Chevelles, could be wrong, but I dont think so. <o></o> One more question. Are 65 parts the same as 67?<o></o>
